Our 1995 Disco has a few electrical problems.
It all started whaen I couldn't get it out of park. I replaced the brake light switch, whick fixed that problem, but now there are others:
-Faint ding ding ding sound.
-No lights in shift indicator.
-If radio is on, it goes off when shifting from park to reverse.
-Dome light flashes when door is opened.
Any thoughts, help, ideas would be appriciated.

Sounds like most Discos.

Might be a bad door switch(dome light and faint ding ding.

I've never had lights in the shift indicator.

All part of the Land Rover experience.

Did the 95 have a seperate body computer ?
If so it's probably a bad ground on or near that particular module.

Wel I suppose its comforting to know that part of the rover experience is SH*T for an electrical system.
I'll check on the door switch and report back.
Thanks.

With a quick and almost undetected digging up of the hatchet..., The door switch seems to be good.......
Still perplexed about the strange stuff going on, and now my wife is putting on the heat. Any more ideas on susing out the problem(s)?
thanks.

Not to state the obvious, but maybe there is a short between the brake light switch harness, the door switch harness and the transmission light wiring. Sourcing where these items intersect with each under within the confines of the Land Rover wiring harness will surely be a joyous task, but maybe a necessary one before your brake light switch goes out again.

Prolly a ground underneath the consol that has been disturbed with some previous repair attempt. I would pull up the consol and investigate the grounds under there.
