I was just reading that the G.M.military pickups have a G.M.limited slip in the front dana 60.What do these limited slips compare to as far as traction strength etc.thanks

From my understanding only a few specific models had a limited slip in the front 60, while most were open diffs. The limited slips used, I believe, were Trac-locks so I wouldn't go out of my way to find one.

A very few trucks even came with a Detroit locker in the front D60 axle. To find those the truck must have an "M" designation in the painted block lettering (i.e. M-205)meaning that it was in the mechanics division.

No...the CUCV's that had the NP205 (the M1028A1 and the M1031) also have the Dana Spicer trak lock up front. They are the Tactical Shelter Carrier and Tactical Chassis, respectfully.

I have torn apart about 15 military trucks and I only got 1 that had a LS in the front. If you did score one it's not all that......

actually it has nothing to do with the 205. The 205 came in the M1028a1,2 and M1031. The M1028 and M1028a3 have the 208. All M1028 models have the limited slip as well as the M1031. Models M1028a2,3 are the dually's. They work well with stock tires, doubt very well with big tires. Also, the M1028 is not hard to find. I have got 2 now and have had 7 or 8 of them. Just gotta know what to look for when you buy them.
