Honest!!! '74-'75 GMC/Chev--front-3.73 ratio in half ton applications. Got it out of an older spicer parts book

Thanks everyone for your help. I guess its a 73 1/2 ton housing that someone has changed to 8 lug and 4.56 gears, so its going to be interesting figuring out what all parts I have. Would the axles be the same for 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton?? I need to replace the u-joints and change the ratio to 4.10s.

Gear ratio changes are all the same for all Dana 44's. Carrier break at 4.10/4.56, so if you've got thick 4.56 gears you can change to 4.10's without switching the carrier. Otherwise, figure the cost of carrier change as well. As for u-joints, that's a toss up for which shafts are in there. There's so much changed on that axle, I'd bet the bigger 297 joint is in there. Measure it across the cap and total joint width.

Where are you located? I have a housing that has 4.10's in it I will trade you if you are close.
