: Well, I guess I'm back into Rovers whether I like it or not...
DieLucas! 11-22-2004, 12:13 AM ...I totalled my Fiat 131 this evening :( :( :(
Fawkin' Las Vegas rain...I broke traction going around a slight right hand bend (not even that fast), overcorrected and spun it into a light pole. The light pole looks perfect, I'm a tad sore, and the 131 is toast. FWIW, the rear sway bar was always a little too stiff considering the stock springs and dampers...perfectly fine and enjoyable on dry pavement :shaking:
Anyway, let's take car of some business...
Pendy, it looks like I won't be needing that Saab EFI anymore. If you still want me to test the EZK ignition on the Rover, let me know...I'm game.
Slade, do you still have that HD drag link? I think I might want to replace the one I bent driving over that Ford Probe at the wash.
Anybody, I may be in the market for a Range Rover rear bench seat. I tossed my POS unit a few years ago, and this RRC isn't for certain staying in the stable, but I would like to complete the interior.
Newbies, fawk off.
I really liked that Fiat...single owner, complete maintenance history, passed from one enthusiast to another. This is a sad day :(

Cherub Rock 11-22-2004, 12:30 AM hate to ask but i'm curious...
did you have it EFI'd? at the last place i was a shopboy, we had a guy with a gorgeous little Brava that wanted to put in a Bosch EFI. He was doing some light-rally stuff, SCCA I think.
anyway, sorry to hear about that.
fawkin' off...

Is this the one you caught all the hell for not having the license plate?
And, you know, once you own a Rover, you can never go back :flipoff2:
I should have a rear seat for you in a week or two.
sachilles 11-22-2004, 08:33 AM sorry about your loss.
maybe you could transfer the parts to a deserving YUGO, for a killer autocrosser.
Yugo's with Fiat goodness perform pretty darn well.

It was pre-FI. I have the entire Fiat/Bosch EFI from a 1980 124 that I was going to use, but I was talking to Pendy about adapting the EFI from a Saab 900/9000 (I was going to turbocharge the 131).
EFI really wakes up the bottom end on a stock-cammed engine, so no wonder he was interested in it.
DieLucas! 11-22-2004, 08:58 AM Is this the one you caught all the hell for not having the license plate?
No, it was the Range Rover I caught flak for (I turned in the plates after I registered the Fiat). FWIW, the Fiat's plates read "FIXEDIT", a play off the common Fiat acronym...ironic, eh?

Yugo's were full of Fiat goodness...but remember, there was a reason why Fiat sold the design :D
There's a guy on one of the Fiat boards who turbo'd his 124 and is now finishing a turbo'd Yugo project. Pretty wild. I'd love to get my hands on a Euro/Aussie Uno turbo, but like that is ever going to happen.
The 124/131 parts do not transfer to the Yugo too well; the X1/9-128 engine and driveline does however...those engines will spin at 8000K+ all day long.
pendy 11-22-2004, 10:01 AM I wraped an X19 Fiat of mine around a light pole on a turnpike entrance in the rain. While checking my lack of dollar bills after leaving the talent bar. It drove home with the front clip resembling an open racer. Sold it for parts and got back to my Rover project. Back on track. Loose the Fiat obsession. Start wheeling your junk instead. Nice family fun.

Maybe you should just buy a Saab 900. Its a better car anyway.

I couldn't remember which models interchanged.
The x 1/9, running at 8k all day doesn't always do it any favors....We had a "masters" autocross. A x1/9 was provided for all those entered to use. It lasted about a dozen runs. Wierd setup in the cockpit.
I managed the second fastest run.
wilsby 11-22-2004, 10:11 AM Glad you survived. Are all the girl scouts in the area accounted for?

Pity about the Fiat. Now that you are back into rovers all you have to do is actually take one wheeling :flipoff2:

There were cookies scatterred everywhere, but no girl scout to be found.
Serious One 11-22-2004, 12:18 PM Hey,
Bummer about the Fiat...never liked 'em anyway. :flipoff2:
Yep, I have those heavy duty trailing arms (the adjustable ones), and the brackets you'll need to mount them to the frame.
IF you don't want to go HD, then I have a couple of stock ones laying around.
At least you didn't have your family with you...there's always a bright side isn't there!
:D
