i like these rims, but i have no idea what backspacing to run, i'm leaning toward 3.5 or 3.75, for those of you that have this setup do you like it? would you change anything if you could go back and do it again?

I used to run 3.5 on my XJ. I liked it. If your are going to wheel it invest in some beadlocks. They are one of the best purchases I have ever made.

I have 3.5" b/s on my XJ right now with 33's. It will push the tire out of the well a little so be ready to maybe do some fender trimming. If you get around 4.5" of b/s should keep the tire in the well.

I ran 33X12.50 TSL on AR 767's 15X8 4" BS and it worked very well Put them out just enough to clear stuff but not to far to give problems. One thing to think about is what axles are you running. The rear 35 is going to have a hard time with 35's the front 30 can handle it if you are careful and open but another thing to think about is that when you put the wheel's out further (with less backspacing) it will cause more wear on the icky d30 unit bearings.

Just depends on what you want.

I've got just little 31's on mine now, but with my 4.5" backspacing they still stick out past the fenders, so when i put 33's on they'll be way past, but i'm installing YJ flares too, so we'll have to see.
If your asking what tire you should go with as well, obviously a mt. If it sees both on and offroad, possibly a TSL or SSR.

Milkman has a 96 XJ with 10 inches of lift and 36's on his front 30 with 456 and ARB. He has 4 " of backspacing and has cut the Hell out of his fender wells.

He even has my TJ flares on it. I'll tell you this It GETS THE MILK!

i want the tire to stick out a little bit, i just don't want it to look like a lowered truck that has those little tires and those rims that stick out 3-5 inches

any head on pics of any xjs that will show how much the 12.5 tires with 15x8 rims will stick out

I thought there were some good pics from your last post which is still on the first page. 4" will nicely fill out the stock flares and 3.75 or 3.5 will be just a little more. Go check out jeepin.com I believe that jason ran this and he is real picture happy. Just go for it dude, either way you will be happy a little more BS is just a little easier on the axle components.
