ive seen all those toyota pu's with the two shackles on the rear and i got the shackles to do that but do i wnat to do it on my yj (has anyone done it before? if so what happened?) thanks

the point of haveing one end of the leaf spring fixed to the frame is to locate the axle.
if you go to dual shackles you will have to link it to locate the axle since the springs will no longer do it.

theres a rig in the new JP with this setup.

do you really have the stuff because i've seen you selection and its kinda grim. make sure you do it right don't booty-fab the suspention its too important to have somthing go wrong. And "grapehead" thanks for all the input here and on the charging post (that was my truck) but i beleve hes talking about the tara-flex type shackle where there are two shackles folded up on the back mount of the spring so they can unload and give more droop.

like those revolver shackles or something? i thought the general consensus was that they were crap.

pick up the Dec 04 issue of 4wheel and Off road, they have a YJ that they did a spring over with dual shackles...

no no no i am talking about runnig two shackles on the same side of the spring so then its almost like a revolver. i just got them laying here and someone wants to buy them. should i sell or through them on.

The only reason you've 'seen' these dual shackles on Toyota's, (like the one above Steppy has shown), is because those Toyota's have the 63" Chevy rear spring swap. and since the bolt diameters differ between chevy and Toyota, and the top of the Chevy just happens to fit into the bottom of the existing Toyota shackle, it's easier...

yea i got ya the things i was thinking about were shitty shackle angle now and that would fix that #2 is it would give me more down flex witch is somethin i need with 2 inches of down travel now anyway thanks

I've had no experiance with these but I bet they will give you a hell of time when you are going up and down a hill. They will tend to load/unload at the wrong time and make for a not-so-fun ride. Search for the revovler shackle. People complain about these things loading/unloading at the wrong times.

FSJ guys have been using the Teraflex Revolver shackles.

A lot of guys have been having problems with them loading / unloading on hills and sidehills.

Be careful, they are a bit scary when they unload unexpectingly.

I know a guy that rolled his Wagoneer because of his revolvers on the front of the Jeep unloaded on a sidehill climb.

I think you could get plenty of flex by running stock springs SOA instead of these "revolvers".

2 inches of down travel sounds like you haven't unhooked the swaybar. or your shocks are too short or something.

so if you jack your rig up by the frame it droops 2 inches from where it runs at drive height? then your wheel is coming off the ground?

and let's just say that the double shackles are exciting at times to say the least.
