Some friends of mine are getting a '79 Luv pickup, 4wd for almost nothing...
I've searched and searched and yes used the http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/images/top_search.gif ...Was wondering if anyone knows of ANYONE that makes a suspension system for them...Its doubtful anyone does...
1. Any suspension kits out there?
2. Largest tire that can fit?
3. There are body lift kits, I know this...
Any help would be appreciated...tried to talk these guys out of it...but you know how some people are...

That's an Izusu with a chevy logo. Look for Calmin or something like that. they have ads in most 4x4 mags. They are IFS.
I told them there wasn't crap for them...but the fawkers don't listen...The body panels are full of expanded foam insulation because the rust was so bad.... Oh well, let them saw it, throw on a small set of muds, and run the hell out of it.

I think Grim means Calmini.
There is one around here that runs at the drags quite often. Lime green 2wd step side w/a 454, real clean.

I have 1979 luv that i also got for next to nothing.
3 inch body lift.
stock frontend lasted about 3 months(ring and pinion through the housing.)
picked up a toyota solid front axle for the front and adapted the toy front driveshaft to the stock t-case.
did a spring over on the rear.(has actually held up!)
with 9 inches of lift i have room for 36s but the 1.8l can't do it.
this summer the 4.3/700r4 in the garage along with the double toyota t-case go in.
less than $350 in it so far!!
no pics yet.

When I looked into this years ago..
Calmini had a 2" or 4" torsion bar lift. You could then SOA the rear if you wanted.
Another option.. a buddy back in HS had a "Crown Industries" '77 4x4 Luv.
Jeep Dana 30, leaf sprung (SUA) front, SOA rear, divorced Dana 20, stock 1.8L/4spd.
Fun little rig.
I've also seen a few Luv framed/bodied rigs. Full width axles, custom suspension. small block.. basically a Luv cab, frame, and the remains of the front clip and bed.
They make good racers. :D
