I've been running really rich due to a buggered MAF (plugs uniformly black, black powder out the exhaust). Replaced the MAF with a salvage one (thanks RCH!), but now have an O2 sensor failure code (44).
Hoping this is just due to all the gunk from running rich (yes I'm the eternal optimist). Any recommendations on ways for me to waste my time and money in a fruitless effort to get the codes to stay cleared before I give in and buy new O2 sensors?
I figure trying to run it long and hot for a while, maybe trying sea foam or some other magical fluid, etc...

44 is not necessarily an oxygen sensor failure code. IIRC, it indicates a mixture control issue that MAY be a bad sensor.
Got anything else that might lead to a mixture issue with that bank?
(it probably is a bad sensor, but c'mawn, even I replace the sensors when they need it :flipoff2:)

Propane torch and brake clean. Depends how long you ran it like that.

I ordered them tonight at Advance Auto, they didn't have them in my local store but will have them on Friday morning (closed tomorrow for Turkey Day). Gives me a chance to do some other things tomorrow like finish the wiring for my Engel.
