where can i find input gear for an lt230 that has the high range at a 1 to 1 ratio with the newer longer splines and cross drilled holes in it?
or the lr part number?
need to replace the one i have as the splines are almost gone.

Is your LT230 originally 1:1 on the high range? If not, you can get the required parts to convert it from Ashcroft. Ashcroft will have it regardless. The conversion from pounds to dollars will kill you though.

Hi,
I am assuming you have the 1.003 ratio LT 230,
if the serial number ends in A or B, the input gear you need is FRC 5428, this is not cross drilled and has the short spline, not available cross drilled (you can drill it yourself with a tipped drill),
if it finishes in C, more complicated :
if you are using a TF727, 3 speed auto you cannot fit the longer spline input gear as the auto coupling shaft spline is not long enough to accept this,
if you are using a manual LT 77 or R 380 you need FTC 5089, cross drilled with the long spline,
if you are using a ZF auto, you can use FTC 5089 but you will also need to change the ZF coupling shaft for FTC 5090 which is identical but the spline is 20mm longer,
enough info ??????????

thanks
whats the differance between the two numbers i have tried a 26 count gear that matched the one that came. however it was alittle larger in dia. and when you put the pto cover back on you could not turn the input gear.

From what you said, I am usuming the 26T input gear that you tried was the same number of teeth but larger in diam.
From what Mal Story told me once, Rover has changed helix angle and pressure angle in different models of the LT230. They may have also changed the addendum correction factor, which would certainly make the diam of the input gear larger.
This is probably why the part no is different, depending on suffix letter.
If Dave re-visits, no doubt he could clear this up.

Hi,
yes the tooth angles are different but so is the gear width, this is much easier to identify them by,
the gear teeth on FRC 5428, 26 T non-cross drilled as fitted to all suffix A and B LT 230's are 27mm wide.
32mm on the 26 T, FTC 5089,
if you have no serial number or no old input gear to measure, you can measure the middle row of teeth on the intermeadiate gear, this will also be either 27 or 32mm,
