A few weeks ago my Mom purchased a 96 suzuki X-90. She wanted to use it as a daily driver so she wouldn't put so many miles on her Toyota Tundra. Personally I thought the vehicle was junk, but my mom bought it anyway. One of the things that was wrong with it is that something seems screwy with the wheels. I had a friend check if they were out of balance, and after working on them he told me the wheels themselves were damaged and should be replaced. They are aftermarket chrome steel wheels. Well my mom has been calling several local shops, and everyone keeps telling her that she needs special wheels for the X-90 and try to charge her big money for them. Are these wheels special in any way, or are they lying?

I thinks its bullshit, and that they are just trying to charge her more because she doesn't know much about what she is buying. I did some quick measurements, and the wheels look like 15x5 with a 5 by 5.5 lug pattern. So what is so special about them?

BTW, the X-90s engine says 16 valve. Is this the same engine that people swap into samurias? Is the transmission the same one that is used in sidekicks, or is it different?

I believe it's the same drivetrain as the Sidekick/Tracker:D

Not much info available on the X-90's. Perhaps the wheels have some special offset to them? I would be tempted to try on a 'standard' wheel on the front & see if it will work.

If the X-90 has a centered rear chunk, it has the Sidekick tranny - if it is offset to the pass. side, it's got the Samurai stuff. Probably got the good engine, too:D

Well, I still can't see anything that would make these rims unique. I guess I am going to have to call and see what excuse they can give me on why the X-90 needs rims that cost more than the car is worth.

BTW, on the engine and tranny, after comparing pics it looks to be the same engine. As for the rear diff, there isn't one. I hadn't really paid attention to it before, so I went out to look at it today. The thing is front wheel drive :D

the X90 is basically a rebodied Sidekick/Vitara everything should be a direct swap for a Sidekick. The wheels should take a standard Suzuki rim.

the X90 had an odd tire size if i recall, 205/65's or somehting small like that. But it's 5 on 5.5 same as any Zuk. Just about any aftermarket rim for say a Bronco will fit it. Gotta watchj the center hole though. Some wheels are too small. The X is also the exactr same chassis as the Kick, so lift kits and such for the kick will fit the X.
