Hello!

came accross a set of axles froma Ram 1500. The rear is a Chrysler 9/14. I have beeen doing a bit of search but have not found yet anything conclusive about why I should not go with this axle. I believe the 9 1/4 have the C clip, but is it that bad? Some friends said it is the poor mans Dana 60 :D

Please let me know what you guys think, I was thinking about setting this up on my YJ, since the rear already has a locker, and the pair is geared 4.11. These axles came from a 2001 Ram and have about 10K miles on them.

Has anyone seen this axle setup on a Jeep before?

:D :D :D

Find out what locker apps are available and you will have your answer, the rear has a trac-loc is that all that is available. Buddy I know who likes building things uses what ever he has available at the time (read cheap), works for him but he likes to fabricate instead of buying :rainbow: adapters.

CJBoxer,

Thansk for the info. Yep, the rear has a Trac lock. I am looking on the inexpensive side too, but would rather not have to put the money on something that is too crappy. The deal I can get on this pair is about $600 (front 44) and rear 9 1/4, track loc on the rear, and 4.10 gears on the pair. What do you think? Thanks for the info.

DO IT!

I had the Chrysler 8.25 in my XJ for 3 years before I ditched it for the 44 I got cheap..That axle from what I understand is a larger version of the 8.25 in the cherokee..I dont know about the 9.25.. but the Tubes and r/p were pretty beefy on the XJ..

Are the brackets still on the front axle... I dont know about their location on the axle .... may be a coil conversion in the front would be in order!!!!

Just a thought...

Hey,
The 9.25 is Chrysler's version of the GM 12 bolt or the Ford 8.8. It has 30 spline axles. So, if that's the class of axle strength you need, then go for it! Just make sure you can get the gears or locker that you will want for it down the road...
