How is this for Extreme tech...
Lately I have been having a hard time getting my rig to start. Principally due to a lack pf spark....
Basically I have a 2F with the electronic ignition..
Currently the electronic ignition is a Mallory Hyfire3
I tried A MSD Blaster ignition but would not get spark at all while turning over.
The old hyfire seemed to work but has changes recently.
Now the only way to get it to start is to have a fully charged battery, turn the motor over and then turn the key back.. As soon as I cut power to the starter the motor sparks..
Now, the hyfire is connected directly to the battery post that the starter is.
the starter spins very freely.
Voltage on my dash gauge drops to zero..
Voltage to the coil drops to like 5 or 6 volts..
Battery is a brand new red top.
All cable and connections are good.
Wiring harness is completly new.
From where I sit it seems like the starter (stock) is drawing a TON of power from the battery but still spins well. Does this make sense? can a starter go bad and start to draw excessive amounts of current?
This is buggin the heck out of me..
