: Starting the beast tonight

After fighting all kinds of cranking voltage problems I finally solved the issue last night by running 4/0 wire from the dual optimas (in the rear tub) to the starter, and ground on the starter. I was getting a large voltage drop with the previous weenie welding cable setup, which was draining my batteries and limiting cranking speed. As you can imagine, in order to start a direct injected diesel with no glow plugs, you need a decent RPM to have stuff warm up. I finished up very late last night, seeing as my relationship with my very residential neighbourhood neighbours is already quite strained, I decided to put off starting the engine till tonight. I did give it a shot and it cranks a lot faster than before.

I am also interested in seeing how much happier the winch is with a dedicated 4/0 wire.

I'll let you guys know how it goes...

So WTF? After all teh teasing did it explode? Did the neighbors call the cops on you? Too busy protesting Bush's visit to go crank it up?

Inquiring losers with nothing better to do than pester you, want to know.
