Well, Pendy struck out with the parts I desparately need to finally diagnose a horribly misbehaving P38A.
Many of the parts appear to be interchangeable and Pendy seems to agree.
I have successfully swapped a bunch of parts, but the goofy responses to the Rovacom have been so confusing that I'm beginning to believe the controller may be the cause.
Anybody know if the controllers are directly interchangeable? Anybody got a concise, readable pinout for both, without having to endure the endless page-turning of the factory manuals...
Peace,

I just went through a similar issue on my '01. Fortunately it had a little time left on the warranty. As far as I can tell, they replaced just about every component in the air suspension except for the rear bags.

Is the controller more integrated on a P38A? I know when I was calling about one at a local yard he said there was a differnce between the classics and the P38A. I don't know if that is true or not. I'm trying to remember the differences...can you press the button to ready the access mode in a classic like you can in a P38A. Also, I know you can lower to "access" in a P38A w/ the ignition off before you open the doors when stopped. So there may be differences in the controller. Surely it would have been improved?! on the newer model...I know the two models react and move differently. Good luck.

As far as I can tell, they replaced just about every component in the air suspension except for the rear bags.
I spoke with a tech at a dealership from whom I sometimes buy parts-he told me they start by replacing the compressor, then the valve block, then the valve block driver, then the computer...
The pinouts I've found (such that they are) are identical between the two controllers, the connectorss are identical. The valve blocks are near-identical, the pumps are near identical (only difference is the intake setup), the only observable difference between the two setups is the individual solenoids on the P38A can be disconnected from the driver assembly.
To add to my misery, Rovacom changed their bulletin board and I can no longer access...
Good thing the owner of the vehicle opted for coil springs :grinpimp:
