So I'm in my 40 driving to work today, and as I'm stuck in traffic on the freeway a lifted 62 with a bull bar comes up besides me in the next lane. I look over and wave, and the bastard ignores me.

Damn 62 owners think they are better than everyone.
"I've got fuel injection, a/c, p/s, and an automatic. You drive a pos 40."

this has happended to me as i am in my 60, whether its a 40, 45, 55, 62, etc... its kinda embarrasing when you try to wave or get someones attention, whos JUST NOT interested! i truly buhlee its not the fact that they are tryin to be rude, just that theyre not quit as excited as most of us on this board. i bet these are the same peeps that do not belong to TLCA, any local chapter, or any type of discussion board. sorry that happened... :shaking:

I suggest it has nothing to do with your rig,
more likely it has to do with YOU, the driver.

If I were you, I'd take it personal.

I have the reverse problem. I wave at everyone LXs, 80s, 60s, 55s, 40s, etc... and it never usually get recepricated. I'm always in an 80 now. Some people just don't get the Cruiser lifestyle, it doesn't matter which model they drive. My favorite response is when people look at my 80 and just stare and if I acknowledge them they turn away and try not to get caught looking. I've also received many looks of disgust from owners of other 80s and 60s (stockers) when I've been in my 80 and 60. Obviously, they don't love their rigs like I do.

In the title it says 60 and then 62 in the mesage, as a 60 owner that will give you the wave :flipoff2: I am DEEPLY OFFENDED....

60s have carbs
60s have sticks
60s have manual window rollers

Well..... I am not that offended I know exactly what you are talking about actualy! I get the occasional cruiser driver that doesn't wave too, I have discovered that when I drive my primer 55 those soccer moms in the 80s give me dirty looks when I wave at them. Only one time has an 80 driver besides the one that lives 3 houses up the hill from me waved. It was when I was in cali near Lancaster driving my 60 home and he waved at me, I was surprised, it did have a snorkel and bumpers though.

HJ61s are loaded
HJ61s have sticks or autos
HJ61s have TURBOS

I get the serious stare downs....I just wave...they turn away...bastards...what??? you haven't ever seen a 55 before??? let alone one on 35's with a snorkel, painted with krylon and a sticker that says 0 to 60 in 5 miles??? sheesh people :fj:

The most annoying is the Heep peeps...they all have to rev it up or drive really fast... :rainbow:

Very few 40's around here...I've seen like 3, maybe 3 FJ60's and like 30 FZJ80's....2 55's and 1 62. Not that I have been counting...not one 80 has waved... :shaking:

WHERE"S THE LOVE???

You can usually size up another Cruiser before you wave. If I'm in my FJ40 and see any 40, they wave back. Even 2/3's of Jeeps will wave back. A 60 with a guy driving will wave back. A 60 with a woman driver--50/50. A woman driving an 80 or 100 will NEVER wave back, they usually take the next turn off to get away. I'm ugly, but not that bad!

When I drive my FJ60, 40's and 60's will always wave, but most 80's and 100 drivers will look at you funny-like a poor cousin who drinks too much at dinner.

When I drive my 80 series, I feel invisable. 40's won't wave back(not a real Cruiser I guess). 60's don't wave(wagon solidarity brother!), 80's don't wave unless they are lifted/bull barred like mine. Then I usually know them, so it doesn't count. If I wave at a woman driving a 100, they don't wave because it would require removing the cell phone from the ear! Most Prius drivers give you that "agent of planetary distruction" stare they normally reserve for H2"s.

I've given up waving at 80's. About 50% of 60 owners will wave, regardless of gender (though they are mostly guys) and I know most of those. 40's will rarely wave around here. They don't realize I'm driving a cruiser too. It's just another heep to most of them.

The wave is a flat-fender thing.:cool2: As a kid, when I rode with my dad in his 51 M38, other flat-fender drivers would wave, but never drivers in Heep wagons, pickups, or even heepsters. Same for the last two decades with my 40. Other 40s will initiate a wave, but rarely any other Cruiser unless it's one of the rare flat-fender models (troopy, etc.). The wave doesn't belong in the square fender world.:p

I usually make an exception for any Cruiser driver that waves. But I draw the line with Nolan in a Lexus.:D

I drive a 40 and a 100. People never wave at the guy in the 100. Must be jealous about the heated leather seats and 4 wheel disks.
