: NP435/np203/dana300 in my garage HMMMMMM
Monkeyboy 02-07-2002, 07:08 PM I have anNP435 with an advanced adapters dana 300 adapter and I have a complete Dana 300 with a twin stick sitting in my garage. And now I have a complete dodge NP203 sitting in the back of my cherokee.
What should I do?
I'm gonna do what any typical POR BB browsing beer drinking polock would do
I'm gonna try to make em all stick together as if they were one happy family. As soon as I fugure out how to get that heavy fawker out of the back of the cherokee.
So does any one have any suggestions before I start :D
JediJohn 02-07-2002, 07:18 PM Yah sell me your Dana 300 with a twin stick..LOL:beer:
I have that setup in my garage all together. I made the adapter it's short.

Can you Email me pics and tips if you have them?
Who did you use to get the 203 shaft shortened and splined?
Are you using the AA NP435 to d300 adapter?
I made my own adapter, out of one inch plate, any one that spline axels can do the shaft.
start by getting more
Monkeyboy 02-07-2002, 07:47 PM I'nm drinking beer at the moment.
I'm downloading Autocad at the moment to draw all the shiat I need to make.
Monkeyboy 02-07-2002, 11:21 PM Well I got the 203 out of the back of the cherokee by dismantling it.
I then stuck all the junk together the best I could on the garage floor.
It looks like I might have to make my own 435 to 203 adapter as well to get the spline overlap that I feel safe with. I would also make the whole thing shorter at the same time.
then their is the whole 203 to 300 adapter which looks like it should be easy.
This will either be a nice project or the final straw in the purchase of a real 4 to 1 :D

v6toy4x 02-08-2002, 01:26 AM i have a sm 465 to 203 to dana 300 i'm putting in a land cruiser. i had the advantage of a factory adapter from the 465/203 then built a plate for the back of the 203 out of 2" alum. and cut and splined the shaft (dutchman motor sports $150 incl. re hardening) so the back of the 203 matched the configuration of a th400 with shaft length and 32 spline then got a th400 to dana 300 adapter of this board swaped the input in the dana 300 to 32 spline female and it works. the next move is to beef up the tail shaft on the 300 and put the 4:1 in it. didn't the 435 mate to the 203 in some factory applications if so you might be able to get that adapter some where with a little searching
anyone have tips on the 203/205 crawl box?
themaddhatter 02-08-2002, 06:16 AM You might be able to shorten up the thing quite a bit by making a new adapter from the 435 to the 203. Cut and respline the 435 shaft, and probably do it with 1" plate. Gain a couple inches there too.
That's how I am doing it.

Not exactly the same thing, but this guy did something pretty close.... looks like an awesome setup in my opinion, lot more gear choices than the run of the mill 4:1 kit

Scouter 02-08-2002, 08:51 AM Dodge NP435 to 203 is a stock adapter and can be found in the junk yard. You will also need the main shaft out of the Dodge NP435. Check with AA I "think" they have the adapter to go from the 203 to 300.
Monkeyboy 02-08-2002, 10:02 AM I was going to check out a dodge np435 with a factory 203 adapter I was going to compare the shaft from the dodge with the conversion shaft that I currently have in the 435.
I will use whichever one is shorter.
If the AA shaft I have is shorter I will make a new 435 to 203 adapter to get the spline contact I want. If it they turn out to be very close in length I will probably used the factory adapter and put the AA adapter up for sale. :D
Monkeyboy 02-08-2002, 11:34 AM AA doesn't make a 203 to D300 adapter.
Can any one tell me the length of the factory adapter of the dodge np435 to Np203.
I want to compare to see if I should make my own.
The current adapter I have in the picture above is 4.25"
I will need to make a new adapter that is an 1.25" shorter to get the spline overlap I want.
welndmn 02-08-2002, 11:47 AM well what ever you do make 2 and give one to me :D,
i was talking to someone on a different BBS about this, we will have to get some  together and share our ideas

It's a killer setup for full sized trucks and I highly recommend it, including ORD's adapter (www.offroaddesign.com) .
Wagoner Machine makes 3.6:1 gears for the 203 box.
Especially a good idea for automatics.

just to play devel's advocate, will all this torque multiplication ending with the puny 300 output shaft bother you?
Ten_Bucks 02-08-2002, 06:42 PM Wagoner Machine also sells a NP203-to-Dana 300 adapter. Don't know how much it costs, though. Check with them to find out.
