I have a '76 Scout II with Electric Igintion box problems. I have a wiring prob to, but have traced it as the box. Anyway, I can't seem to find a replacement box. Any ideas? Back Country Binders website has one with a Jacobs I think. Any info on this or other setups?

Welcome to the Binder section.

Both Napa (http://www.napaonline.com) and Autozone (http://www.autozone.com) should have the part. You are talking about the Gold colored box on the firewall correct. Are you sure it's the box and not a problem with the pickup?

Yeah the gold box. I havent tried Napa. Autozone had a price and a part # in the computer but said they couldn't get it anymore. Something about the suplier. How do I test the pickup?

I just picked up a new gold box. It's made by Standard. Part number is LX-405. Looks just like the original.

I have actually thought about converting to the Ingiter but didn't know if I could.

You have to replace the disty, points style is the best option for the replacement.

I never had any problems with my gold-box. I don't mind 'em.

That said, almost all of my rigs *do* run Points disty's with Ignitors. ;)

Michelle's 800 "Oscar" has what I believe to be a Goldbox disty with a Pertronix.

The '75 SII the 304/T19 came out of had a Goldbox on the firewall and the DPO claimed to have ignition problems and blamed it on the goldbox.

When we started looking into it (after it was home) we popped off the disty cap and found a Pertronix inside..

I haven't bothered to verify if it's a goldbox disty or if someone swapped in a Points distributor or not.. but it *IS* a Pertronix.

And with it in the 800 now, there's no goldbox and it runs fine. :D
