: Camping for Easter Jeep Safari
Chris Geiger 02-07-2002, 10:18 PM I am planning to go to the EJS in Moab this year, I will be there the week before "Big Saturday". Anyone else going and planning to camp out? The last two years I did the motel thing but this year I plan to use the Motorhome. Any from the BBS planning to camp out there this year?

my weather forcast is saying cold maybe snow .. so be prepared..
if it does it will melt fast though.
Go to napa and ask Derrick where Austin (me) is
derrick is the only one under 40 who works there
Chris Geiger 02-07-2002, 10:33 PM You can get a forcast a month out? Wow.
Yes I will be cold, the last two years had snow showers. The RV does have heat!
i am planning on talking my moho. but you already knew that. :flipoff2:
jp008 02-07-2002, 10:50 PM I'm there as well. I have reservations at Slickrock and plan on being there the 23rd-31st. Of course I don't think you'll be able to find me, I hear the Unimogs have taken over Slickrock Campground this year. Look under them for a big blue sami----that's me.:D
Big Rich 02-07-2002, 10:56 PM I'll be out there in the motorhome as well. I think I'll try one of the open campgrounds on the road out of prichett canyon. I don't plan on doing any of the organised runs, I'll be spending time in one of the booths at the venders areas. but I do hope to get some trail time, If I can find someone else to wheel with.
Rich
jp008 02-07-2002, 11:07 PM I plan on living day by day. I would like to wheel with some of the other sami's, but if I don't then I won't worry about it. I'm just there to see weird people and carnage. (god I'm sick) People watchin' is my game. Don't get me wrong, I love to wheel, I would rather see my neighbors vehicle get crunched than my own.
locrwln 02-08-2002, 07:18 AM I'll be in Slickrock this year, look for the varied group out of Nevada. You know 4runner (Allpro catalog), ramcharger, two yj's, bright yellow xj on coils all the way around. Can't wait, not doing organized runs either, but also can't wait for bump dump carnage.
Cabin:D
Fawk camping:flipoff2: All the campgrounds there are so damn packed together.....
Jeff 92xj WI 02-08-2002, 07:57 AM Camping!? Can staying in a motorhome really be called camping?;) I didn't make last year as I had sold my front axle and hadn't finished building my D44. :( :) However, the year before, I stayed at slickrock jammed in next to many other tents. One day, the little roof over our tent blew completely off! It cleared the tent and everything luckily. We came back from a day of wheeling to discover the little shelter roof GONE! :) I probably won't make it this year as I have no money. :( Jeff

Your homo  . Well at least you aren't trying to hide your 'special friend'.
:D
coloradok5 02-08-2002, 01:32 PM I will be in a cabin just outside the city (23rd-27th), can't remember the name because my friend set it up, anyway if you see me in my K5 say hey.
I heard that the Dump Bump may be closed this year, I hope not I have a score to settle with that sucker, anybody see me last year when my tire carrier flew open?
SLO_Crawlers 02-08-2002, 02:53 PM We just got some camping reservations. I can't wait to try out the new rig out at moab. Bryan
StoopidMonkey 02-08-2002, 04:16 PM Dont jinx the weather and say its going to snow, i arrived the Thrusday of EJS last year and it eneded up being perfect weather, we camped in tents in one of the grounds. It ruled. I dont like how EJS is going to be in March this year, hopefully it will be warm though.
Slagburn 02-08-2002, 08:51 PM K5, did you lose anything when the carrier flew out? EJS 2000, might have been Big Saturday even some idiot in a beat red XJ went to climb the bump, slid down, tailgate flew open. The moron was between campgrounds and EVERYTHING came out on the ground.
Hehehe, oops :rasta: :nuke: :mad3: :flipoff2:
coloradok5 02-08-2002, 09:07 PM The tailgate stayed closed but when I came down I kind of ran over the swing arm part, put a few little dents in the tailgate nothing major. :emb4: I since ditched the tailgate/soft top/carpet and inboarded the spare.
I didn't loose anything out the back but I did have tools and hot & spicy cheez-it's all over the inside. :D

derrick is the shit! he lent vova and i some huge tin snips to make a clip for the throwout bearing out of a big hose clamp. if it wasnt for his assistance i would have towed it home...instead i switched out the throwout arm on the clutch(johny lange brought the part from SLC) in the sand under dump bump and had a great week in moab... good people in utah!
chris, i hear EJS is an absolute nightmare(too many people too many rigs on the trails), why dont you wait until the wildyoats trip at the end of april??
XtrmTJ 02-08-2002, 10:39 PM I,ll be there, in my mohome too. Black TJ, flat fenders, 35 in. boggers. Going unoficial also, looking to hook up with folks off POR, to run some trails ? Be there Sat to Sat.;) :D

I got my trailer hitch buried so bad one time there that I couldn't back up. Had to use a shovel to dig it out. When I freed it, the truck started to roll back at me (was at a pretty good angle). It was just the drive train slop untill it stopped (was in Park), but scared the crap out of me. 'Course, there were 20-30 people watching me at the time. I then asked the crowd if anyone had any spare underwear I could borrow. :D
On another unsuccesfull attempt on a different trip, I came sliding back down it and landed on the same trailer hitch, fairly hard. Rearanged some junk in the back of the truck in the process, and broke the cap on a full 1 L bottle of peach schnapps. Of course this was the day we got there. At least the truck smelled nice the rest of the trip. :D

Jeff 92xj WI 02-10-2002, 07:04 PM For some reason, I have NOT been able to conquer Bump Dump in my XJ the two times I have been in Moab (multiple attempts though.) The last time, Bart Jacobs was with me suggesting lines, air pressures etc, and when I slid back down to slam on my trailer hitch, my STEERING WHEEL broke! A little too much grip I suppose. :) It is a three spoke affair and the rim broke from one of the spokes and bent in a couple inches. I was laughing so hard I quit. I peeled some of the rubber back and welded it back together with a borrowed mig at Slickrock CG and am still using it two years later. Yes, this is my daily driver too. Jeff
Big Rich 02-10-2002, 09:38 PM Looks like I'll be in one of the campgrounds in town, someone has made res's for like 6 spots and my motorhome get's one of them. I'll let you all know when and where as soon as I find out, but let's get a blow out going at the brewery on one of the afternoons (before the regular crowds fill in). If your in the vendors area stop by the booth (JP Off Road Aluminum bodies) and say hello. If you've never met me, just guess which one I am.

XJ's can go up Dump Bump OPEN diffed fairly easily......right wheelbase for that obstacle I guess.....go to the far left side and drive up........don't fall asleep and don't make fun of other wheelbases. You'll get yours somewhere else....
