I found a '99 F350 V10 crew cab 4x4 I am looking at. I basically know all f250s from 99-01 had d50 front axles, but what did the 1 tons have? Did the 1 tons come with a Sterling rear end or something bigger?

I want to add an RE lift and 37s and wheel it pretty hard. WHat are the weak parts on the axles? I know hte Rams have bearings and a few other things can be weak and I am comparing he two trucks.

All Sduty SRW trucks came with D50 front ends. They all used Sterling 10.5 back rears as well. Weak part is same as the Dodge, as well as the tapered axles into the D50 carrier. I have personally split several pinions on the D50 front and tossed the gear end out the top of the housing.

Yeah found out until '02 they all had d50s, then they all had d60s. I guess I may go with a Dodge then.

Are you sure ford was still using the TTB in 99'? I thought 98' was the last year.

they're talking about the dana 50 solid axle, not the 50TTB. And I think all of the DRW's had dana 60 fronts, as far as super doodies go.

The Fords also have lockouts not CAD which is an advantage over the same year Ram (until mid 02). The 6.8 makes comparable power to the 8.0 Dodge V10 but will get better gas mileage, though I think both motors are pigs personally.
