Hey guys ! I just picked up a '01 TJ & am starting to get everything ready for the transformation. I've decided on a RE 3.5" basic lift & will be running 33x12.5 tires.I asked about the 15x10" wheels & was quickly steered away from it & told to go to w/ 8" instead by the salesman, is'nt stock 7" ? . I know the guy sells tires ............. but he doesn't have a Jeep. What do you think would be the best width to go w/ & why. All input appreciated.

It's a matter of preference but I think 8" wide wheels are perfect for a 12.5inch tire. It gives you a nice bulge, especially when aired down.

I think you'll find that most people running 12.5" tires, that actually wheel, run 8" wide rims.

I have been running this setup for over a year now and I always air down to 15lbs. I've yet to have a problem running rocks, mud, and general trail riding(badlands).

If you use a 10" rim and air down the chance of popping your tire off the bead is greater. Your tire will also have a flat(er) side wall so you will hit your rim more frequently on rocks. On the plus side with a 10" you can take corners like your in a car because there is alot less sidewall roll.
I would recomend 8" as well.

I would recommend 8" too, for reasons previosly stated. 10" wide wheels will work, but I don't really like them as much.

They would fit on your 7" stock wheels, but I sure wouldn't reccomend it, even though a few people I know run that size and love it.

the only problem with the stock 7" wide rims is the backspacing. I'm running 35x12.50 SSR's on stock Chevy Blazer rims. I love them.

ur running stock blazer rims w/ 35's? damn! go with an 8" or 10", if u like the real wideness of the 10", but the 8 will hold the bead better and make ur tires look taller..
off subject, but do u ever rub ur tie rod on the inside weights on ur wheels? curious, running 35's 15x10 american racing steel black rims like everybody has.. i rub the weights down. just curious?

thats the funniest thing ive heard all day! so what if he doesnt have a jeep, a tire is a tire and a wheel is a wheel...what does it care if its on a jeep? you jeeples make me laugh

anywho, if you want to wheel it and it sounds like you do, go with the 8" for the better bead holding, unless you plan on stepping up to a tire thats 14.5" wide and dont want to buy rims later, stick with 8"s
