: learned something new-maybe
65SWB45 12-11-2004, 09:17 PM Until today I always thought that all new distributor diaphrams were bright gold zinc plated. Until I saw this:

Lowenbrau 12-11-2004, 09:37 PM The text in the ad says...
" It was carefully degreased, masked and painted with an iron grey metalic engine enamel"
That would explain it, I think.

Which begs the question, WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO PAINT A BRAND NEW PART?
4x4Poet 12-11-2004, 10:52 PM At least no one need feel honored to bid on his LandCruiser part.
Lowenbrau 12-11-2004, 11:39 PM Which begs the question, WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO PAINT A BRAND NEW PART?
Yup, good question. It pretty much rules out any buyers looking to buy it for restoration purposes. He might have gotten his money if it was what he said it was.
IDave 12-12-2004, 06:58 AM Which begs the question, WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO PAINT A BRAND NEW PART?
Or degrease it, fo' that matter?
nuclearlemon 12-12-2004, 07:22 AM it wouldn't have had some sort of cosmoline on it, would it?
texican 12-12-2004, 07:24 AM I'm thinkin' Mark has been smokin' them left coast cigarettes again.....
Thanks Mark, you don't know a damn thing about the parts I have for sale. Why don't you look up paint in the dictionary and see what it's used for. You going to contribute 200 bucks towards my medical bills if your big mouth lose's the sale for me. Alot of the potential buyers for LC parts read these boards. Supersize the FAWKEN picture and look at the gear on it. And to think I was going to buy some parts from you when I got my bills paid. Thanks again
Foxfab 12-12-2004, 12:11 PM ya, this guy is loco... Here's his response to me:
"I degrease everything that I paint. It is painted the same color of my engine. I ordered so many parts from two suppliers when I rebuilt it that I accedently ordered two from different places. I kept it as a spare but never needed it. It's brand fucken new, and your bullshit."
Nice first post NEWB :flipoff2:
What kind of a reply do you expect when you send me a email telling me that you think my ad is Bull shit right off the bat. You got the reply you deserved for your rude email.
Land Cruiser Junky 12-12-2004, 12:32 PM Thanks Mark, you don't know a damn thing about the parts I have for sale. Why don't you look up paint in the dictionary and see what it's used for.
Webster's: Paint. An enamel coating that makes used engine parts look brand fawkin' new. :flipoff2: EXAMPLE:
Land Cruiser Junky 12-12-2004, 12:34 PM I should know, I'm the fawkin' PAINT KING! :flipoff2: Oh, and by the way Von, I'm pretty sure Mark was saying that your part was new, and he "learned something new" that there might actually be a stock color he didn't know of. If that's not what you were saying Mark, you need to be a little more sarcastic next time. :D
IDave 12-12-2004, 02:32 PM Von, what may be obvious to you isn't immediately apparent to everyone else. I can think of very few people who would take the trouble to paint a brand new dizzy to match their engine, especially the spare dizzy. In fact, I think I could count them on one finger. I would also question that the said painted dizzy would function properly. It would depend on the quality of the paint job, unknown to the billions of EBayers who don't know you personally. So it might be worth going into some detail about it, and not expecting people who don't know you to ASSume.
cruiserbrett 12-12-2004, 06:41 PM Whats the fawkin deal? WHO CARES??? Dont buy it if you think its a painted used part. this is a Four wheeling/rock crawling discussion BB, not the LCML.
Foxfab 12-12-2004, 06:49 PM Brett, you've been around Speicher today haven't you... :D
dd113 12-12-2004, 07:05 PM Now it will be Mark vs Gil and Von in a cage match. We can put this on pay per view. PM Mark for details.

Are you freaking kidding??? You think he is going to pay you $200 for your medical bills if YOU lose the sale on a product that YOU dont describe clearly! What the hell glue are you huffing!!! I will post to every forum on this entire internet thingy that al gore invented not to buy that ebay item, then when you lose the sale, i will push ya down and kick ya in the groin and make your bills jump up 5 fold! then to top it off, i will take that item and post it on ebay for $5 and depending if your local or not, i might swing by your place and poop on your hood!

dd113 12-12-2004, 07:09 PM Change in the card. Now it will be Mark and Boston Mangler vs Gill and Von.

BBBaaahhhaaahhhaaahhhhaaa
IDave 12-12-2004, 08:43 PM Land Cruiser Junky, that is just about the cleanest looking engine compartment I've ever seen.
So, why DIDN'T you paint your distributor?
1FE pig 12-12-2004, 09:00 PM More pic of the 45lv. :D Dam junky it looks good!! It didnt come up on google yet . Im looken for more pictures .
60seriesguy 12-12-2004, 09:40 PM Settle down, fawkers! I took time off from my crazy schedule to cruise over, check out what everyone's up to and live vicariously through your mods, since my POS Land Cruiser is as dead as disco....and this is what I find?? :flipoff2:
I'm headed over to some other forums where I can learn where to find chrome rims and other cool wheeling mods! :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I ran out of iron grey metalic engine enamel. :flipoff2:
1FE pig, I've still got some work to do on the front end and then I'll post some pics.
PabloCruise 12-13-2004, 03:08 PM i might swing by your place and poop on your hood!
How ya like them apples fawker! :flipoff2:

I can just see the Triumph, the Comedy Insult Dog, "this looks like a good distributor - for ME TO POOP ON!"
Too Funny!
dd113 12-13-2004, 04:33 PM The logistics of pooping on the hood do not seem all that difficult. I can see where the slope of the 40 series hood might help avoid ankle splatter where a later 55 series hood with the raised portion might make for a good handhold. 60 series hoods might be a bit slick to gain any purchase on and just give it up on a 80 series hood. I can just see that accident happenning.
Now pooping on a dist: that is a whole nother story....
PabloCruise 12-13-2004, 05:15 PM I love this "Thanks Mark for implying I'm selling used parts as new. If you can't understand that paint keeps a part from rusting then you should be working at McDonalds, not selling truck parts to people you rip on. This part is new and I'm giving it away at 200 bucks!!!!!!!!" posted on his own auction!!!
If anyone wasn't concerend before, they are now!
PabloCruise 12-13-2004, 05:16 PM Want fries with that?

Trust me! Its easy! Especially if the hood is oxidized so the poops sticks and doesnt slide! Makes nice when the engine warms up!
Land Cruiser Junky 12-13-2004, 07:10 PM I can't believe this thread is still alive! Kevin, your post are killing me. That pooping on the hood thing had my wife and I dying last night.

That wouldnt be any fun! Well, unless of course, it is posted on ebay as
"Kinda New/Painted Distributor, Fresh With Kinda New/Painted TURD! If You Dont Buy It, Someone Will Have To Be Blamed For My Hospital Bills!"
dd113 12-14-2004, 06:36 AM That wouldnt be any fun!

Cuz pooping on a hood is such a blast :barf:
dd113 12-14-2004, 06:37 AM I think Mark threw up his hands in disgust and left the building. There is no Mark in Pooping on the hood.
Foxfab 12-14-2004, 06:48 AM I think it would be terrible if someone reported him to Ebay for false advertising :)
Rockzar 12-14-2004, 07:40 AM I think that whatever medication hes trying to fund, he should ask his doctor to double the dosage. :p

What can I say. No topic is too simple when you are the lightening rod for controversy! :shaking:
This guy took the time to leave an equally disturbing message on my answering machine, which is now preserved for posterity. :cool2:
I would have posted up sooner, but I didn't want to spoil the party. You guys are having as much fun with this as kids who put aside their new present to play with the big empty box it came in! Keep it going. :p
