Assembled my first today, it wasa a pain getting the thrust washers in the output shaft, since I was starting with nothing, took the speedo cover off at least 6 times and the entire shaft out once when I got too many shims in and had to reset the race.........I recorded the thickness and will start a few thousandths shy on the next one........ :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

6 is good Butch , shows your experience , I am rookie and must of done mine like 10 times and had to reset race 1 time but got lucky and after a few vibrating blows in strategic spots the sucker loosened up a little and I did not have to take shaft out. IMO machine your original shift fork to clear gear and use the same collar it was with , and coat the inside of the collar with some old school axle grease , the stuff that looks like old honey , just a hunch on keepin it in gear. and run that screw in on the shift fork , alot .
