Has any one attempted to mount a ford or a modified GM alternator in the smog pump space? Do you think this is possible?
On another note, I just finished installing a york compressor using Brad Kilby's (AKA onboardair.com) mount. It was $$$ but it sure is a slick setup. I spent about 8 hours trying to build my own adjustable brackets but finally gave up & bought them from Brad. In my opinion the $175 is pretty steep but it sure beats the hell out of wasting 8 hours of frustration trying to fab adjustable mounts.:mad3:

Good question about the OBW, and do you have any pics of the York installed?
I have an 89 TBI I'm using this summer.
Thanks

I've done a large case Ford alt OBW on my 5.0L TBI.... also with York OBA.
The york replaced the factory AC unit(POS for onboard air anyways:p) Then, I mounted the alt in between the stock alternator and the york. It did require me to use a new water outlet/ upper radiator hose though :p OTOH, I'm stuck following the smog rules in CA with a 75:p
I'd post a picture of the final product but I don't have the picture on this computer so I can't upload it to my website for viewing here.
I'll see what I can do in the next day or two.

John,
Thanks for the pics. I'm not sure if I have enough room under my hood to mount the alternator up there. one plus to mounting it there is that I could use a regular v-belt of the existing alt. & not have to run the serpentine belt up there. I am also running stock a/c so I had to mount the york on the side of the engine. hopefully I'll have pics up soon.
Did you get the package (knuckle alignment tool) I sent you yet?

Glad it worked out all right.
