Price cut on Hummer wheel centers and Rock Rings

Price slash on rock rings and centers!
I have wheels now so I am taking orders on complete wheel packages again.
Wheel, recentered, bead blasted, primered, with a plastic runflat, and new hardware starts at $245.
Add $20 for rebar ring installed
Add $60 for 3/8" thick rock ring installed

Bad news is I don't have enough wheels to just sell the wheels.
Wheel centers are once again $50 and Rock Rings will also be $50.(for the snowflake pattern)
Runflats are $65 assembled.
Rebar rings are $7ea.
If you have wheels and want them recentered 8 lug then that is $100ea wheel and covers the cost of a new center, me cutting out the old center on the milling machine, jig welding in the new center, countersinking the holes, bead blasting the wheel, and primering it. $10 more ea for other bolt patterns

I am assuming the rebar ring is a cheaper alternative to the rock ring?

Does the bar come bent to shape and is just welded in?

There is a pic of Freds40 wheels with the rebar ring welded in on my older post so look back a few days in this forum and you will find it. They do come pre bent, just trim to fit, and yes it is a cheaper way to go but very effective.

Got one of the rims done today (minus the rebar ring). Had to mount up a 42" TSL and mock it up on the CJ.. I just swapped in a D60 using my old SOA setup but outboarding the springs. I'll probably remove the fender and hack up the body. The rear is getting the 14 bolt via a 4 ink coilover setup... It was really easy to recenter. I set runout at about .010" (the stock rim was actually closer to .025").

I would drill a new center pin hole 1" back in the spring pad to move the front ahead 1". If you can. On my CJ5 I cut out the triangle piece there in the tub so the tires had enough room and so i stopped hitting it. Looks good.

I'm trying to finagle 5 of the 12 bolt wheels right now. Do you have the rock rings for them as well? What are your runflats made from? PVC? I read on another post the the civilian hummers ran some sort of a rubber part. Any difference in the performance or durability? I like the snowflake pattern and would be interested in sending you all 5 wheels for complete setup. What would the cost be for center, rockring, runflat, labor & shipping to 92592?

It would be $165 ea for recenter and the rock rings installed. I don't expect the steel prices to go up much more so this price should be in effect at that time.

At this time I do not have a rock ring for the 12 bolt wheel but have enough interest in them to make some. I will need your wheels to make the print from to get them done so the delay in getting your wheels done will be an extra week or two.
My runflats are 3/4" wall PVC. I have done close to 200 of them with no problems to date that I know of. They are cut and them milled to match the angle of the wheel. I also make them a little smaller than the stock runflats because the bead on the tires we run are thicker than what the stock runflats were designed for.
Standard recenter of wheels is $100. That covers milling out the old center, jig welding in the new center, bead blasting the whole wheel, and primering it. If you want rock rings they are $50ea + $15ea to weld them on. If you want the rebar rings they are $6ea + $10ea to weld on.
Runflats are an extra $55ea.

I can. I am about to have some done for a guy so I can do 8 then. I stopped making them because they didn't sell well but can have some done. One thing to note is that you need to run the IFS hubs or run a 1/2" or larger spacer to get them to clear the calipers.

The way to get them in the tire is as follows: Stand the rinflat up and spray it down with WD40 or whatever brand you like. Spray the tire bead with it to and then set the tire on the runflat so the tire is now peralell to the ground and setting on the runflat that is standing up. Now with great force you push down on the tire and the runflat will oval out and slide into the center of the tire. Then stand the tire up and kick the runflat so it turns and drops into the tire. Some tires this is very easy and some it takes some work and the warmer the better on both. So in the photo you posted it will stard much like it is pictured there but without the wheel and with that all flipped over so the tire is sitting on the runflat not the runflat on the tire. It took me about 30-40min to get all 4 of them in my tires but they were 39.5x15 TSL Trux's SST's and went pretty easy on all but one. It took some force:D

Plenty wide for that. I know they have been used for 21" wide boggers but that is a little wide. I have them on my 15" wide TSL's and they are fine. Shipping for 4 boxes would be $158.98 for 4 wheels and each wheel with rock rings installed and plastic runflats are $265ea. I looked at sending 2 boxes but the shipping was about the same.

For shipping to 27807 it will be 2 boxes and the total would be $70.73.
The orings are a Buna rubber size 2-458. I will have a bunch of them here soon but don't have the price on them yet. I expect that they will still be close to $4ea

Dean, just wanted to say thanks. As promised, here are a few pictures of them and my install. I wiped them all down with a little cleaner and in the morning, I took them out for a liberal Hammerite spraying. I took your advice about setting the tire on the insert and pushing on the tire instead of the insert on the tire and trying to fight the insert. I used simple green and water instead of WD40 and I did not have to push hard to get the tire pushed onto the insert. In fact, I almost took a face plant into the wall because the tire dropped on relatively easily (16.5" tire). :D Sprayed more soap and water solution and gave all 4 inserts a kick to spin the insert into the tire (do not try this with slippers, the insert will bite back). Once I got all 4 done (took about 15 minutes), I put the back side of the rim down on a 4x4 piece of wood and dropped the tire/insert on the rim.

This is my story word for word :laughing: First one took forever, the next three took about 20 minutes. Trashed the first O ring, silicone fix. Mounted and tested and very happy.

You are right. Soory about that. I didn't do 12 bolt rock rings. The best I can do is the 1/2" cold rolled steel rings just like the rebar rings just smooth steel. There has just never been enough interrest in the 12 bolt rings to get a full sheet of them done so if I only did 4 or 5 at a time when people ordered them they would be $12ea more. I can see about getting 4 of them done when I am getting a sheet of the 8 bolt ones done just swap out 4 of them so that way I can get a better price since I am still doing a full sheet qty. PM me the bolt spacing so I how wide the 12 bolts are accross from each other.

4 Runflats shipped to 55075 would cost $34.15 to ship so $254.15

5 wheels recentered will cost you $100ea and to add rock rings to the outer lip will add $65ea or cold rolled steel rings will add $35 each or rebar rings will add $20ea
The cold rolled steel rings and the rebar rings are mostly the same other than the cold roll steel rings are smooth and are tougher.
The wheels will come back bead blasted and primered.
Shipping to get it all back to you would be $106.60

The plastic runflats are just great, have run 8 pound with the Scout and wrinkle a tire to start while doing some full throttle hill climbs, but not even a leak!

Shipping for the centers to 39110 is $31.67 so $231.67
Shipping on rings to 29907 is $16.59 so $40.59

Plastic runflats are $55ea and the rebar rings are $6ea.

They are 1/2" rebar and only come in the correct size to fit a 16.5" wheel. You could collaps them down to fit another size and even stretch tem out to fit something a little larger if you like.

That is a good question. The 12 bolt wheels are about 2x thicker so they don't need it as bad but I still think you will smash it flat or peal it out just the same. I have a set here that I just looked at and don't think they will hold up much better in the long run.

Depends on the ring. Spme of them I cut about one inch off to start and then cut the rest off the other end. One end will have an odd bend in it so that is the end you will cut the most off of.

When you look at the ring both ends have a little flat. Cut off where it just starts to bend then tack that into the rim. Work the rest of the ring around the rim you might have to tack it or clamp it into position. When you get about 3/4 of the way you will see where you need to cut it off and then it will fit pretty tight worked great for me when I did my rims.

Are your run-flats still plastic or are you using the metals ones at the end of Billavista's article?

Are the rock rings welded on for the $6 price or are they a WIY (weld it yourself) ring?

I only do the steel runflat now, no more plastic ones. The price if you supply the wheel is $100ea for 8 lug and add $20 ea for the rebar ring installed. If you want to instal them they are now up to $7ea. The runflats are $40ea if you put them together or $50 if I put them together.

Here are a few of the answers.
5 lug centers are $60 and the 12 bolt rock rings are $50ea
8 lug 8 bolt wheels are $245 with the rebar ring installed and come complete.
If you have wheels then recentering is $100ea for 8 lug and $110 for other patterns.
8 lug centers are $50ea and all my centers are weld in not press in.
On how to install them you need a flat table with something that is also flat that gives you the backspacing you need. You back spacing range is from 2.5" to 5" but if you want more than 4.25" then you will need to grind some off the wheel center to get it to drop that far in due to the wheel taper.

I don't know what ballistics looks like but I only do the one like you see on the first page. A complete wheel is $225ea for 8 lug and then add $65ea for the rock ring installed.

Sorry but I don't check here as often as I should so PM's are by far the best way to get ahold of me.

The inserts are steel and come assembled for $55ea. They have evolved quite abit from the first ones and can be made in any width. They will cost some extra though.

Wheel centers and inserts to 74501 will be $85.07 in shipping to a home or $70.06 to a business. Orings are $2ea, 6 lug centers are $60ea and inserts are $55ea

Holes are tapered so you are good to go there.
Lots of people run them on the road so I see no problem with that. I will tell you that they are for offroad use only since it is a recentered wheel and not tested. I will have to look up the shipping but 2 centers and 4 rebar rings would be $78 and expect that the shipping would be about $30 or so. I have everything in stock.

The new inserts are 1/4" laser cut steel 5/8" tall. They come in two halfs and bolt together like the old stock mag ones. So now they are very simple to get in/out of the tire and weight less.

I only do the smooth steel rings now and they are $15ea, the orings are $3ea and I have used nuts for $.10ea or new ones for $.40ea but the ones are zink plated not black. Shipping for all would be $12 and I do not have the studs to hold the 2 halfs together.
