: Sheared Hub bolts?

Ran wrecking ball this weekend with a bunch of fullsizes this weekend in my samurai on 30's and managed to shear off all the bolts holding the driver's side hub on. Should I just put new bolts in it and call it good? or do they make something better? Ive heard of this happening on toyota's but never a samurai. Ive already broken both birf's, so im kinda wondering whats gonna give next.

Common problem. If u wanted to upgrade use alen bolts, they are much stronger.

Also keep them tight. IMO that is the main reason why they shear. I would also upgrade to studs. Yota studs are a direct swap.

Interesting, guess I need to go to the store and get me some better bolts. I surely thought I broke a shaft till I was told they found my hub laying on the trail.

Replace with stock and keep them tight.

I see where Spidertrax is now offering a kit to upgrade the stock 8mm bolts to 3/8"
fine thread SHCS's (allens). This only works with Warn hubs though.

I used to do that shit all the time. Upgrade to yotas, I guarentee it will never happen again.

I’ve ran stock axles since 2000.
The last 2 years I’ve wheeled pretty hard.
I’ve only sheared hub bolts once. I replaced all the ones on that side with a grade 8.8 bolt.
I inspect them frequently to make sure they are tight.
The stock bolts will work fine if you keep them tight.

Ok devils advocate hear,,, I to have busted or sheared my hub bolts more then once. Lets pose this question would you rather replace 6 studs or replace a broken shaft or birf.. seems to me keep the week link where it is readily fixable. I actually replaced all my studs with grade 2 just to make sure I wasnt replacing shafts on the trail.. Not to mention I can hide the spares studs in the glove box, cant do that with a shaft LOL ... anyway just thinking outside the box

 Ive managed to break both birf's, and now sheered the hub bolts off. You must drive like a pussy. Especially since I have 30's and break shit every trip out. :flipoff2:
