: Coil Over Question...

A bunch of you have seen the photos already, but I have a new question. In the first photo you can see the amount of travel available with a 10" Bilstein mounted on the lower link. As you can see the problem is that the coil drops to far.

I decided coil overs was the way to go to be able to utilize all the travel. My fab guy wants to use a 2-1/2" x 10" coilover also mounted on the lower arm like it is now. He feels that since we already know that the shock works the coil over will work just as well. He plans on redoing the lower arm and making it much beefier and of course the top wil lbe redone as well and will include a hoop to go over the engine and tie the towers together.

Well, what do you guys think??

This will probably work, BUT -

It looks like you need to remount your shock 90 degrees from its position now. You can clearly see that the rod has got major deflection as the suspension is cycled. If you use the heim joints as they are intended, then the shock will rotate instead of binding like it is.

It will work fine. Roggy has done a few rigs this way and they work fine.

Cool, thanks. I just like to get a bunch of opinions before the truck goes under the torch.
