Ok, well.. a comanche could make a sweet wheeler... If I were you, Id look for one with the metric ton package, and the D444 rear. It will have the D30 front, but thats not too big of a deal, you can swap it out later if you want... If I bought one, Id throw a 44 front in it, bob the bed, and spray paint it, and be done... Just my thoughts, if you want to wheel something that not a lot of people wheel, go for it!

I THINK.. the rear springs are longer on the comanche, but I do believe the front coils are the same as on the XJ. If you wanted a good amount of lift, say 6-8" you could always get cherokee front coils, then have alcan spring make you a custom set of rear leafs.. Just a thought.

Hi,
From the doors forward it's the same as a Cherokee.(ie lift kits)
Rear frame wider,(Springs mounted on the bottom of the frame rails vs.out board),longer leaf springs, and SUA stock.
Here's mine,Check out my WWW page.

Just do a SOA out back and pick up 5"!!
Need more, you might want to look into AALs, rear extended shackles (Cheby 1/4 ton) or a whole new pack.

You're that fawker that shortened his Comanche!
I been meanin' to talk to you about the process.

I've looked at the stock frame....and it don't exactly lend itself to modification...if I recollect squarely.

Did you import some reinforcement into the stamped steel ( I'll use that "steel" part loosely...I believe the rear frame MIGHT be 3/16" at it's thicker parts.

I was looking at doing the exact opposite of yours. I was going out to 136" wheelbase and 4 doors.

E-mail me offlist if you get a chance.....

A buddy of mine has a long bed with 4.0, NV4500, NP241 & D60's with custom link coil susp. on both ends. It does great. Just takes a little more maneuvering in the tight stuff.
Go for it.

alright heres a question for you comanche guys(its an easy one I promise) does the comanche have a unibody in front and then have a normal frame in the rear??? After thinking about it I think I might pickup a comanche for my new DD/Rig (while my rig is out for the count:D:D:D

I was just reading this & thought of the mag. I got in the mail Sat. 4wheel & offroad has an article on Cherokee's & Comanche's. They let you know the best years for both & what to look for. Just thought you would like to know. ;)

I had y manche up 6 inches and on 33's and hauled 3/4 yard of riverrock about 30 miles. Damn good truck, awesome offroad, comfortable as all hell after the bucket seat swap, and not too common, especially lifted.

anyways, yes, it is unibody front, frame rear but teh frame isn't too srong...just look at the crossmembers. (HUGE!)
