What's the cost?

freds40

$75 for 3 pulls and an event t-shirt. Looks like there is going to be a good B-B-Q also for another $10. Only allowing 40 trucks and I know this is posted on at least 2 of the bigger Diesel forums.

At first I thought it was up there but I did some research and found that most shops are charging $80 and up just to get 3 pulls. I think this shop charges $90 for someone to come in and get 3 pulls. I'm curious as to the numbers of my truck so I figure I can drop a little cash and have a good time while doing it.

This is a great event. Well worth the $80. You will meet some of the nicest people over there. Scott (aka Big Bad Dodge) think he's puttin down mid 700s Bryan (aka Psycho Stroker) high 600s out of his ford, kickin y2k has a strong ford, amoung many others. If my twins are on I'll run the Dodge The ford is getting a magor rebiuld hopefully it will be done.

Any one else show? I got there about 1:30 and was signed up @ #39. After they were on #32 and the dyno computer crashed I hung around until about 5:30 but my 8 mo. old daughter was with me and she was a bit chilli. I called Brad after I dropped them off but he said they called it and just awarded trophys based on the people who already made their pulls. Bummed me out because I thought I could have brought home a trophy and the wife was all psyched @ the idea of that. I figure I'll just do some pulls @ a local shop and let Brad know what I did, just to see if "I coulda been a contenda!" Numbers there seemed a little low compared to what I heard being thrown around. I think Brad pulled down a 589...on drugs.

Not %100 positive on what it runs as it has yet to run on this setup. I am actually going to hit a local dyno Jet tomorrow @ 4:30. I'm going to take my digi cam to get some footage as well as I haven't had it on the dyno personally.
I heard about the guy from Klamath too, that really sucks. Wasn't too big a deal for me as I was in the area for my B-Day anyway. We stayed at a beach house in Morrow Bay.
I have a shaved head and kind of hung straight back from the dyno, didn't feel the need to be up front. My truck was the one that had 5 people piling into it along with the baby around 5:30 right out front. We ran down to Rohnert Park to walk around and relax and made the mistake of "just going for a couple of minutes" to check out the action. :D
I'll post up tomorrow evening as to how I do tomorrow.

Thoes numbers seem kinda low, The only 500+ were on water/meth.
Ponci made an extra 120hp on meth???? and Coats made 75hp??? I thought W/M was only good for about 40hp at the most

Those were my thoughts too. I was figuring I'd see a couple of 600+ pulls but every time I looked @ the board, they were mid 3s. Did anyone hear what was up with the blue Chevy dually that was somewhere around #30? They had him strapped in with 4 but he was making some hellacious noise, sounded like not enough fuel or timing issues to me, and he only made around 380.

I talked to the guy with the blue Duramax and he said it had a hole new ecm from tts i believe.. Its was making some cool noises. It also had a suncoast trans..

What was the name on the side of that thing? DPS ?

On my last run with the box on 9x9 I only hit 950deg on the egt... My point being the dyno must have not had any load on it... On the road with the box on 9x9 I can easy hit 1500egt on the freeway..

Finally got a minute to update ya. 594.5 hp and 1086.8 ft/lbs. I think I might need a degree more timing or so but I'm happy. I'll try to post a pic of my smoke show tomorrow.

WOW great numbers Fred... Sorry I dobuted you last month when you said 600HP+ :D :D Is that still using the jammer turbo???

Sound's like the event kinda sucked with the computer crashing and unexperienced dyno operators. Im glad I saved my $80 and 300mile road trip.

Yeah that is straight #2 running a single HX55 Bell modified turbo. I took a video and it was great. The shop is a ricer shop so they didn't believe me when I said they needed a good ventilation system.

   I did the same thing. Just start in 3rd and mash it. Ummm, that's not a good idea. Just do it.

Shop was cloudy for 20 mins. :shaking: :shaking:

It was pretty funny. I actually went in a couple of weeks ago but their Dyno is an above ground unit and the lift to get up to the Dyno was not long enough for my truck. I noticed that the machine is in the back corner and that my exhaust would be just blasting @ the wall. That day I asked about the ventillation system and they said they would just turn on the fans and it would be alright. They called me back and said they modified the lift so it would work now. After the first run the guy making the pulls jumped out of the truck and had to stand outside for about 15 mins. The next 2 pulls he did real close to each other to get it done with. After about 20-30 mins. of catching some air, they finally started to get my truck back down from the lift. BTW, there is now a nice big black spot on the wall in the back of the shop there. :smokin:

If I can take a still from my digi cam I'll post one where the truck is almost completly engulfed.

did the dyno even put a load on those things? cause those numbers look really low.

freds40
01-19-2005, 06:19 PM
I've heard some say they didn't think it was laoded. I've talked to a few people who have put some time in on dynos and they say that the rollers weigh something like 8k pounds and that is where the load comes in. I've also heard others talk about a water brake as a way to load it? I stood on and kicked at the rollers there and they weren't budging froom my efforts at all so I don't know if the load was minimal.
