Where I'm going to mount my M-8000 I'll need to feed off the top.And run it backwards.
Does any one know if Warn offers a reverse rotation spool brake ??
Has any one done this?

Just turn it around, front-to-back, and mount it pointing the opposite way. Use a good fairlead and you'll be fine...

That's what I had planned when I built my bumper 2 years ago just before jeepers jam.
I'm finally getting around to putting in the winch (got stuck at Winter Fun Fest). And It won't fit like I had thought.
Hence ,plan B.

I think running the cable off the top of the drum could be a bad idea. Would probably over stress the winch mounting points since the load would be applied further away from them. 8k load 1.5" above the mounts vs. 8k load 6" above the mounts, simply a bigger lever on the mounts.
Just my ramblings, correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes ,You are absolutely correct.I plan on making a top brace bracket utilizing the 4 cross bar bolts. An 8 bolt mount should cancel the leverage factor.
Getting the brake to work in reverse rotation is my main concern.

Getting the brake to work in reverse rotation is my main concern.
As noted, just turn the darn thing around, make the winch face the vehicle, then thread the cable OVER the spool and away from the vehicle. This seems very simple -- there would be no reverse rotation!
Bracing it up top makes good sense, too.

Problem is the motor is 2"wider than the gear box side. The steering box is in the way.Having the winch off set 2" from the fairlead would be not good.

So offset the fairlead, what says it has to be in the center
