So you've seen the price of steel :shaking: way too expensive to waste. If your local place looks at you retardedly when you say D.O.M. or will only sell you a 22' stick.......well we gotcha covered :flipoff2:

we have short lengths of D.O.M. (4' and 5'):

1.25" o.d. x .120 wall x 1.01 i.d.
or
1.5" o.d. x .250 wall x 1.00 i.d.

need more or less than 4'? let me know.......

AND i have 2 different inserts for either Heims or TRE's in both LEFT and RIGHT hand thread:

7/8" x 18 tpi for TRE's
or
3/4" x 16 tpi for Sphereical Rod Ends (heims)

i also have botth LEFT and Right thread Jam nuts for 7/8" x 18 or 3/4" x 16, as well as Heims and most all popular TRE part numbers for GM taper.

i carry QA1, on the Heims. I have 2 different ones I keep in stock..both 3/4 x 16 tpi in both 3/4 bolt and 5/8 bolt.

one is a cheaper non teflon SRE called the "PCM" specs:
4130 chromo, heat treated and black oxide coated
static load on the 3/4" is 25K #
mis-alignment of 24*

the other is the "XM" w/ teflon/kevlar race
4130 heat treated chromate plate body
52100 bearing steel ball
mis-alignment angle of 14*
3/4 has a sttatic load of 28,081 #

i have left and right thread, 3/4 x 16 jam nuts & weld in inserts, and aluminum mis-alignment spacers

i know guys do use them, but i never reccomend heims on a DD. you should really use TRE's...............but, that is my opinion.

yep, correct. they are 2 different designs. the 7/8" x 18 are much longer. here is a comparison shot. hope this helps.

the heim inserts are the short ones..they fit inside a 1" I.D. tube (since the thread is 3/4")

The long insert is for 7/8 thread......it does not fit into a 1" I.D. tube (since the thread is 7/8".....which is almost 1"...........the isert is 1.25" w/ the end machined to 1" ....that is what you insert and weld.)

On the .375 wall, this would be for my lowers. Can anyone comment on if it would be ok with a thinner wall on lowers, or am I asking to have bent/broken links? My rig will weigh no more than 2800lbs or so. Where I wheel, the lowers will come in contact with ledges ect..and will sometimes "scrape" up. All my old stuff was 6061 aluminum, and it bent like crazy. I just cant afford the alum. anymore :( .

Got my steering kit this past Tuesday. All I can say is that the pics do not do this kit justice. The TRE's are HUGE, and the 1.5" DOM tubing is heavy! There's no way this stuff is going to break...

The Snap-on R121 reamer that Matt took the time to suggest worked like a charm also. I had my knuckles and pitman arm done in under an hour. I'll have pics when the set-up is installed! Hee-Haw!

I am working on my lifted 1 ton f350 with 39.5". The stock stuff is well. you know? Can you get 2" dia tubing .5" wall thickness or better? Will your TREs work in the stock under location on 95 Ford D60 knuckles( taper and depth wise)? Quotes on 2- 5ft tubing sections if avaialble and on TRE's,2r 2l handed if you have the tubing I will have them threaded instead. Sent to 93612.

ok...you want 2" x 1/2 wall tube for your steering.

seriously?

seems like a poor choice, clearance issues immediately come to mind.........and a disparety of strength......especially if you are going to use a 7/8 x 18 tpi TRE

the weight of that tube alone may break the TRE and the Knuckle...... :laughing: :laughing: :D


i would suggest 1.5" x 3/8 wall if you wanted over kill.......that i do have here. and that would be SUPER strong and can be Tapped for what ever ends you want.


on the true 1 ton ford ends, they are not the same pitch as GM or Dodge (7/8 x 18). I just did an '88 F-350 Kingpin D60 front end in a '97 F-250 Diesel, so i'm pretty familiar.

A friend in the Aerospace industry had some a while back and gave me just enough for the trac bar. He is no longer in that field and I have no access to it or I would go that route. I am going more for look and trying to keep everything the same size. I do not have clearance issues at all. I have mocked it with 2" tubing and cheap hiems already, the trace bar is on a cust mount and special perches atop of the spring pads. I understand you can get or have the 1.5"x 3/8ths what would that run? for 2x 5' to 93612, and is the 2" not even available? So what TRE's would you run if not yours on my 95 d60 knuckles? Hey need 3 feet of 1.5" .25 wall dom with one right and one left insert and two tre's. shipped to 95130 thanks. Oh with jam nuts and obviously the l/r tre's to match.
