i've been noticing in magazines and on tv at some of the rockcrawling evens, a lot of the guys are running leaf spring fronts and coil sprung rears....whats the deal with that? is there any particular reason? thanks!

Its alot easier to fit coils in the rear, you don't have the engine in the way. Also there s a more serious problem with axle wrap in the rear and a link type suspension eliminates that. If coil and leaf rates are matched well you can have a balanced suspension still. i would rather have Leaf front/ 1/4 eliptical rear because I feel the free droop narure of coils wouldnt work as well as 1/4 eliptical when trying to work with leafs in front.

Yeah I agre on the reason why they run leaf front/coil rear but on all the 1/4 eliptic rear rigs I see is that the rear flexxes so easy it doesnt allow the front to flex. just my thought.
