I am looking at getting a 4:1 kit for the 231j to put into a 231c. Is there any one on this sight that knows if this will fit. If it dosent what do I have to do to make it work.:smokin:

You could call the mfg of the low range kits. They would give you a definative answer. If you want my opinion I suspect that the low range kit would wolk for all versions of the 231. But what do I know.

I have called the manu. and all of them tell me that it will not fit. This is also what I was told about the 231j SYE kit, that dose fit the 231c. Are they telling me this to cover them selves or dose it just not fit at all.:mad3:

i've looked at the tera kit and it looks like it would. Don't take my word for it, but DO keep checkin' into it. On the exploded view, it looks like it would. Give it a try. You can always put it back in the box and return it;)

the only thing that i believe could possibly be different is the width of the chains...I've heard the dodge chains are a bit wider then the Jeep's.

How about swapping in a Jeep T/C all togather. You will have to get and adapter for the 4l60 tranny but I bet you can come up with something. How about a KluneV in front of that instead of the 4to1 low.

OK another question for ya why not just gowith an Atlas? By the time you put in a SYE kit and a 4.0:1 Kit and the rebuild parts your only like a few hundered away from an Atlas anyway. but if you want to go the 231 route it should all work. The basics of the case are the same they even have the same lowrange I believe. If I remember right the Main diffrences between the cases are the input shaft, the chain width, and the length of the output shaft and slip yoke.

The chain in the 231c that I have is 1.25" wide. It is easer to get my wife to give me money to pay for small things, unlike the 2500.00 for the atlas and the adapter for my trans. So it will be the same price. I got the 231c for 100.00 and it was new.:smokin:
