What would be the closest match to the 78 D60 that is 69-70" wide? The factory dana 60 rear end is only like 65-66"??????
I would like to use a dana 60, though I have been looking for a 14-bolt out of a van, they are suppose to be like 67" wide right?

I just used a FF 60 rear. I think it was about 67 inches wide, and you'll never notice an inch or inchand a half on each side, besides, having the rear narrower helps ya squirrel around the cones!
PS you can substitue the word cones for the word rocks if you don't intend to compete.

The 14 bolts that came with the Dana 60s (this is a GM 60 right?) are 67" wide. You can get 1/5" wheel spacers to even it out. Van rears are either 69 or 70" wide, I can't remember. They look to be the same width as the fronts though.

The front end is a Ford hi-pinion 60 that is going in a F150 shortbox. I know there isn't that big of a difference, but I really don't like the track of the older chevys. I really don't want the rear shorter. I could deal with an inch, but not three!!
So....a van 14-bolt is 69-70. That would be perfect.
What about a ford van Dana 60? Are they wider?
What about an Eaton rear end out of a older GM truck?

i think your best bet is just go to the j/yard with a tape measure. that way you can look around and tell us what you found.

So you drive your stock truck with 29's all over Jackhammer?
FYI, my 14-bolt came out of a 2wd 1973 2wd pickup and it is 67" WMS - WMS.

Get one out of a 1 ton Ford van! They will be close to the width of the front!
