I'm sure I'm gonna hear a lot of just change you hubs and axles to match, trieing to avoid that, hummer rims seem like you can get them at such a reasonable price and I'd like to use them because of there deep backspacing with full width axles on my early bronco.
Has anyone ever had the bolt pattern changed on a set of Hummer rims to 5 on 5 1/2, and if so who can do this and how much? and of course did you get satisfactory customere service?
One more thing, what are the dems. of Hummer rims? I have an idea but I'm not positive.

my 12 bolt radial Hummer rims were just short of 9 inchs wide and had 7 inches of b.s.
The centers were cut out and new ones BOLTED in that matched my hubs. ( Unimog).

so, Brutus how did you get 10.5 inches of offset when the rims are only about 9 total? Did you make them wider ?:smokin:

JR who did the conversion? and are there any tire size/type restrictions when using Hummer rims?
Buy the way did Tim ever make a set of the 9"/ portal axles, I remember when you and him were pounding the problems out with doing them.

Axle Jack at CTM did the machining, which were simple flat disk drilled to fit the 12 bolts on the hummer rim and 6 for the unimog hubs.
As far as I know there are no size/type restictions, but anything wider than 15'' is going to look funny.
Tim just got through doing his first non-steer 9''/ portal axle for a customer
Mine have been done for a year.

JR I'm not that familar with how the Hummer rims split but that kinda splains it, are your rims ballanced and if not do you think they could be ballanced with out any problems? I'v got access to cnc mills no problem making accurate center sections, did you have to weld it in or was it just a simple bolt up, what thickness were yours made out of? could you give a short desciption of how the rim itself seperates or comes apart to install a tire sounds like it might be a little different than a simple ring like a standard beadlock, sorry for my ignorance on Hummer rim details.
As far as Tim, things seem to stay the same, I heard he has lifts installed in the shop, and did a run of his bumpers and headers.

what size tires? ballanced:eek:
The disk,1/2'' thick, are bolt-in.
The rim splits apart...
It has a spacer ( run-flat) inside that pushes against both inner edges of the tire when the two pieces are bolted together creating a beadlock.

Jason Paule at Twisted Customs also does the conversion. He has new centers that he welds in. They look and work great. Check out his site to get his phone number.
