Im getting ready to make a traction bar for the rear of my blazer and was wondering how many of yall use rubber bushing, heim joints or a combo of both? Whats your setup, and how do you like it?

I use poly on the rear two points and a heim up front on the bar and poly in the frame/shackle point.

I use poly bushings with adjustable ends, at the axle, and a goofy shackle with poly bushings at the front.
Works great!

Hooper in the IH section was toying with the idea of using a drive shaft for a traction bar, I added to the idea of using a square drive shaft rather then a roundy. Give it a thought, the square DL would give you all the slip you need. The U-joints would give you all the twist you could ever need. Plus you'd have a spare DL on board. Just don't know how the U's would hold up to the load. Thoughts?

I don't quite follow....how would you mount the ends?

After giving it a little thought, you can't use u-joints on both ends, only on the frame mounted end. The other end would need to be mounted to the axle. For the frame mounted end I'd use an old yoke cut down and welded to plate. Roughly at the same angle as the DL. I just don't know if the u-joint is up to the task.

The u-joint would allow for twist, drop etc. The two square tubes would allow for slip. The setup would not allow for any up or down pinion movement.

Thoughts?

I think it would have the same clacket-clackety sound that the square driveshafts often suffer from...
