Well I must be living right. So far I've had a dana 70 rear with 4.88s and a detroit given to me, had my wife ok me to dump a bunch of time and money into my scout, and i found a dana 60 for 500 bucks. The only down side was the 60 was from a dually. Well I went to pick it up today and they hadn't had a chance to pull it yet. I got the hood for my paint job that should be done tomorrow and as I was talking to the owner of the yard he asked me what I was going to do with the 60. I told him I was gonna put it in my scout. Then he said " why would you want a dually front axle in your scout". I told him how(his brother) the yard guy had told me this was the only one they had. Well he then told me to follow him and he walked up to a 1979 chevy and said why don't you take this one. It had 1 ton badges and was single rear wheel and sure enough it was a Dana 60. I asked him how much and he said since the axle on the dually hadn't been pulled he would pull this one instead and give it to me for the same price. So of course I jumped on it. I am totally stoked now. That just saved me some time and money. Anyway the dually 60 is still available if someone here is interested. I can probably score it for 600 bucks. It has 3.73 gears and the rotors look great. . Let me know if anyone is interested. I won't give out the name of the yard until I have the 60 I bought in my possession. I think you guys can understand that.

A lot of yards charge $50-$100 to pull the axle for ya....

JDJanda found his Ford HP60 last year for $250 & $50 for them to pull it...
(No,I won't say where).

Yea I figured if I go to the trouble to get it bring it to my house (530 pounds) and arrange shipping for someone here it would be worth 100 bucks. 600 bucks for a chevy dana 60 is about half price from anywhere else. Snoopy tell you what I get this axle at my cost and you sell me the parts I need at your cost.

Its a dually 60 front. I can probably score it for 500 and I was adding 100 for picking it up from the yard and guarding it until whoever wants it arranges shipping or picks it up gets it. Anyway if someone is interested let me know and I'll get it before it dissapears.

Always buy 60's when they are less than $600. They make great trading stock. They're kinda like Scout D300's. Someone is always looking for one.

DJFORREST, you would have run into the same issue as I using the skyjacker springs on the GM 60F. The springs are a bit thick, leaving very little room to use your bolts that mount into the housing, very little. Im not sure if I am going to reduce the pack, and which ones to take out so as not to have leaves break on me one day. The arch is also a bit much, the leaves dont sit very well on the perch. Ill prolly fab a new plate similar to I think hoopers or TSMT's(not sure which) on their SII's 44 soa that channels the pack in, flanges out for the ubolts and housing bolts. Or go to stock packs.

I'm using 87 blazer rear springs for the front and 1/2 ton pickup springs for the back. If the paint would ever get finished I could start. I already sold my Skyjacker lift to someone on the BB for 400 bucks plus shipping. Not a preimium price but I just wanted to get it sold. I also ordered the electric upgrade kit from MAD. Remote starter selonoid, relays, wiring, terminals everything I'll need for the 160 amp alternator I bought and my dual optimal blue tops. It also comes with relays for dual rad fans that I plan to add soon. I have 140 watt high beams in Hella crystal lenses from a range rover I used to have but it really pulls the juice when I use them. Whats the best Hi steer arms for this 60. I have a drop arm and a regular arm for my scout whats your experiences?

MECHANOS, I dont like the way it looks, looks like itll rip the mounts off the housing. Your talking like 4in of room between the housing bolt mount and the spring plate.

Why wouldn't you take a piece of 2"ID square tubing and cut one side off and weld flanges on both sides with holes drilled for the studs and Ubolts?
