You didn't say SOA, SRS or anything else, so here are some different setups. This is a srs with RE 1.5" springs SOA with the fixed perch shoved forward.

Another angle. I did end up using a longer shackle in the rear.

right on thanks.. i am really looking for standard shackle hanger setup. welding up the mounts on my dj, apparretnly the same as a cj-5 pre 71 frame wise, although i am using cj post 71 springs. i am told i need to get the front shackles to bow forward at about a 20 degree angle but i can't see to get that while keeping the axle centered. get the solids tacked to where the axles lcenter up then swing them up to take the shackle hangers .. whats the best way to get this don't want to be grinfing all day

Find somebody with a 71 later CJ and see what the dim is from the fixed perch to the shackle hanger. If you want more angle reduce the dim by 1/2". My CJ is in the body shop or I'd measure it for you.

complete noob question. what should the angle be and why.. is 20 correct? what does this effect exactly by changing it to a different angle

someone correct me if im wrong but you want your shackle angle to be 45* for best overall performance. also at full flex you want the shackle angle to stop at the vertical position.

if thats the case i am set for the front.. but the rear i need to move around..

side note i am using a dana 30 from a 77 cj, atleast what the guy said i bought it from.. I haven't modified the spring mounts on the housing and the right wheel seems to stick out bout a half inch more than the left normal or is something f'd..dunno why it would be normal but can't see it being anythign with springs since the solid mounts can only be put on one way. progress pic
