View Full Version : Good compressor?

I hate my craftsman compressor SO MUCH. It does provide marginally adequate flow, and still runs, but it is the loudest thing on earth. I have a train about 3/4 of a mile from my place, so my house is SUPER well insulated; even with a separate garage, I can still hear the damn thing inside my house. Its pushing 130dB easy.

So I want a better compressor, 10+ CFM at 90 PSI and belt driven. NO OILESS! I will never touch an oiless compressor again (unless they magically stop sucking). Uses include a sandblaster and spray gun, nuff said

I've been looking at the Campbell Hausfield, but its a *tad* out of my price range (600?)

In a perfect world, I'd like this http://www.tooldiscounter.com/ItemDisplay.cfm?lookup=CAMCIQ71080V
The super low RPM 4 cylinder design just turns me on. From looking around online; some guy who gave a review on epinions got his for like 650!! I can only find 870+freight.

And for reference for anyone who wants to know what they are looking for:

Thanks guys,

I typically hate Home Depot, but I think they have the same compressor as the one from sears for $429 on their site. It might even be cheaper at the store. They are both made by Campbell Hausfield.

The main spec I look for is CFM the Fraftsman loos a little low, especially if you want to sand blast or paint. Also 2 stage and cast iron pump. Im getting a Gardner Denver 80 gallon 2 stage puts out 22.5 @ 175 cfm, but is 1450 bones. I to have had a crapsman airless, and will bee blowing it up once get this new one installed.

I just bought this Ingersol Rand (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3861579033) off Ebay for cheap. I think it is WORLDS better than a oilless. What do y'all think of my compressor? :D

I got my compressor from these folks. DAMN nice compressor, best I have seen. A bit more than the regularly available stuff, but you really can tell the difference.
