So is this unit a spray or short circuit? Is there a shielding gas mix that will perform well on both mild and stainless steel? (AR 98% O2 - 2%??) What setting are you guys using for voltage and speed welding 0.120" wall DOM. I have plenty of experience stick welding but I'm new to this MIG thing.

Thanks!

Maybe you should do a search. Here let me help. :shaking: http://www.weldreality.com/spray_transfer_above100.htm

Well, I have been looking at the Miller GMAW operator's handbook, it talks about short circuit and spray transfer. But it doesn't define what those are and how you acheive them. That link helps. I know the MM210 isn't a pulsed machine. So it looks like what we always use is the spray transfer for the type of welding we do.

I think the difference between spray and short is the heat setting. That machine is prolly capable of both. Maybe look in the welders handbook everyone sells with welding equiptment.

the majority of welding done for our purposes thats done with a mig is short circuit transfer...infact I bet there are very few on this board that can really spray transfer...yes the MM210 can do it but you need the right combo of gas and wire size and the 210 is the bare minimum of being able to do it...

check this link out... looks like as said above, with 0.030" wire the 210 can just do it, 0.035" would be pushing it.
