I heard someone mention it- but didn't hear how to actually do it. Is there any way to turn four wheel drive on- with out the vacuum?
I have my vacuum line hooked up to a manifold port on the 350, but something isn't working right. Not shifting into 4wd. Any ideas on how much vacuum it needs? Is there a common problem with the vacuum shifting/shifter? Just throwing it out there...
Thanks in advance- :fj:

Brandon-
default for vacuum transfer is unengaged front driveline (as you have noticed). The vacuum should run through a switching valve (on firewall) then into diaphram lever actuator on t-case. Leaks, bad diaphram, etc, could lead to non function.
...switch to a manual lever.

there are two vacuum hoses going to the t-case and I think you can just swap them to engage and then swap back to disengage. someone will correct me if this is wrong im sure :D

Check the metal lines all the way down from the firewall to the vacuum unit- they are probably old and brittle and are leaking there. Try to put it in 4WD and you will hear it hissing. Also, mine can get a little tempermental in really cold situations. Just takes a while to warm up the truck, then it's fine.
Check the valve like rick d said on the firewall too, those can get sticky if they are not used for a while.

oh..thats what that is on the firewall...i put a 71 tub on mine and it had that...i couldnt figure out what it was...
It's up and running like a charm- I checked all of the lines, but found nothing wrong. I had already replaced the rubber hoses going directly to the tcase. It just took a little time to kick in. I guess 7 years of just sitting in pasture can do that to parts... Hah.
My rear driveshaft is too long after the 350 swap, so I needed the tcase to engage so I could throw on the front driveshaft, and drive it out of the garage. So now that I drove it out, I think I'll share: :fj:

hey if you park that 55 besides my 55 it will make yours look better than nolens. i just wish mine look half that good as yours. if it looked like nolens i just wouldn't have the heart to wheel it. but this way i won't feel bad cutting the top off and putting rockwells underneath it.

Woo Hoo!! Looking awesome!
Squeel boy!
OINK!!!!!
The body has been repaired (by the PO), except for rust on the roof line, and the fender seams. But other than that, it it pretty clean. From what I've seen of Nolen's, mine does not compare. And I like it that way.
My next plans are to spring it over, and toss some bigger tires on there- nothing too extreme, as I am only a college student, and this is my only vehicle. No extreme wheeler that I have to tow out to the trail- spring over with 35's- the sm420 should handle that without changing gears.
My pig was love at first sight... Most people think they're ugly at first- but I skipped that phase. Just too cool.
