the windsor bellhousing will not bolt to the 429... which 4speed do you have NP435 or t19?you can get the right bellhousing at the junkyard...

i know the windsor bell wont bolt up. but im just wondering what bell will. i have a t18 with a hydro clutch so should i look for an 80s 460 4speed bell ?

hmm...sounds like a nice setup but how do i know that it will fit into an 85 460 hydro clutch bell? i dont know for a fact how deep the 85 bell will be.

it more than likely will. If it will fit into a belhousing for a 351M, without grinding the tabs on the belhousing, it should fit with no issues. If you were wanting to run a 12" flywheel, which some 460's were equiped starting in the 80's I would be concerned then.

IIRC, there is actually no way to swap in a 429 and use a hydraulic clutch using all stock parts. All 429's are internally balanced while later 460's (that would have a hydro clutch) are externally balanced. The externally balanced flywheel is thicker than the internally balanced one, and in turn requires a deeper bellhousing to work. So for a 429 you need a shallow bellhousing (351M, 400, 429, early 460) and thise were all mechanical clutches.

In that case, could he just have a late model 460 flywheel balanced to a 0 oz imbalance?

i wonder would it be possible to make a 351\400m bell except a hydro clutch, maybe by making a bracket to hold the slave cyl. ?

if you swap in a ZF 5 speed tranny, everthing will work great. It is already set up for the hydraulic clutch, and will accept a 12" clutch with ZERO issues.
And as far as depth of the belhousing is concerned, could you not use a longer plunger on the slave cylinder to activate the fork? Belhousing depth should not be a major issue IMHO if you could legnthen/shorten that part as needed. Thoughts?

Just use the 460 flywheel and bell housing,
If it where me I would try and wait for the ZF..
