The things I need to do are:
Re-weld spring pads
get new U bolts
get 8 lug rim
have drive shaft modded for length/larger u joint

my questions are:
Brake line modification?
shock mounts in same location?
someone said with a tight fit I can 15 inch rims on a 14 bolt. this true?

If your 14 bolt came from a 3/4 ton PU your spring perches and shock mounts will be in the correct location. if it is from a 1 ton or a van, then the mounts will need changed. I used a conversion U-joint instead of changing the driveshaft. The length was alright with a 6" lift. I converted to disc brakes w/o an emergency brake. The calipers needed a little grinding to fit. The front one was worse. Should clear w/drums.

Part #447 for the u-joint. What year is your truck and what year is the axle? After 83 GM used push-in parking brake cables

I agree if the diff is out of an 3/4 ton truck your pads/shocks are good.I would buy new U-Bolts ($10 each).8 lug wheels in perferably a 15 or 16" diameter...with the 15" you will have to grind a little off the calipers...the 16" you should be okay.Your driveshaft might be too long!!!The 14 bolt diff is longer than a 10 and 12 bolt diff.Mine was okay because I flipped the rear shackles...resulting in a 4" lift. The U joint might be either a #348 or #447.I had no problem hooking up the E brake cables, just had to loosen the adjuster all the way!.I just finished this mod and damn I like it!!!

Looks like I will be grinding the calipers for a 15 inch rim cause I just bought new tires. It is an 85 blazer, 350, 700r4. I dont have the 14 bolt yet. Did some of the 14 bolts come with 4.56 gears? only way to tell is to open her up and count right?
