Hey y'all, I'm ussually in the Rover section but thought you guys might be able to help me out with my mothers Ford.

Major snow fall last night and we are burried in the drive without 4x4? The light on the dash comes on and a clunk can be heard when 4low is selected but the wheels don't spin? I'm wondering where and how to get at the vacuum switch on or near the front diff? Pics would be helpful too!

Thanks Plenty

Going from memory, there was a vac switch on the PS firewall, up high, seems like the battery is back there also, and it's within a couple of inches of the battery. I remember pulling the battery to get room to work, so that seems right. The vac lines dropped straight down to the CAD thing on the PS side of the diff housing.

That was a 97, but it should get you started. The 97 had cracks in the vac lines, FWIW.

Are you able to move the truck forward or backwards at all? Sometimes it takes the vehicle rolling a bit before those automatic hubs actually lock in.

Wicked Thanks guys, I was able to winch the truck out and get it moving but this still didn't get the 4x4 to engage? I'll be checking on the vauum lines first then the solenoid switchy thingy..
