is there a drawback if i use the axles out of a 1975 landcruser? aposed to axles out of a 84 toy pu ? i plan on putting them under a rro coil lift . i have both types of axles . i know the off sets on the landcruser are the same as the stock sammie . so i want to use them . but are they as strong as the other? and will they work with the lift?

75 is a poor choice, drum front brakes and coarse spline birfields. However, do a disc and birf upgrade on the fronts and yer golden. (use minitruck knuckles/birfs for that)
Cruiser pinions are not as strong as minitrucks, but mini's tend to have ring gear problems due to weaker carriers. You shouldn't have issue with a light Sami tho.

I'd recommend you use the mini-truck axles. here's why:
1) Ring and pinions cost alot more for the cruiers vs the toy 8" diff
2) Ground clearance, the pumpkin on the cruiser axles is alot bigger, which will eat up your ground clearance
3) You can't put an E-locker into an older cruiser axle
4) the rear pinion offset isn't much of an issue, just run a Toy cv driveshaft in the rear, and it will handle the centered toy diff with no problems.
Good luck and have fun.

I have Cruiser axles with a coil suspension in my sami. I got them cheap. I do notice the ground clearance issue a bit but its not that big of a deal

I run cruiser axles under my sami and love them.. allthough I'm not coil suspension.. they are still nice axles. And you dont have to get a new t-case/tranny/engine to run them. However.. mine are out of a 86 FJ60. Try to find FJ62 axles if you can, the come stock with a nice gear. 4.10's if I'm not mistaken.

Why would you have to change t-case/tranny/engine to run Mini truck axles??
