I do a lot of metal cutting with my sawzall.. bolts, plate, etc...

I've used milwaikee's 'the torch' blades and they don't seem to hold up even at lower speeds.. The only good ones I've found are those 'the ugly' blades by skil.

any suggestions, as sawzall blades are about $20 a pack from HD.

Does oil help any?

x2 best blades that I can find. The Axe demolition blades are awesome too.

I've had the best bet with Diston blades. Wasn't impressed with the Torch blades at all.

i've been using 'the torch' blades for a couple days now. I think they are 12 or 14 TPI... they work, but they haven't impressed me at much...

Don't buy DeWalt blades. They are pieces of Poo. I've had good luck with Milwaukee. Just buy the Right TPI for the material, and keep the blade steady.

Torch and "the laser" by some other blue brand have both worked well for me and all of my cutting needs. The skil demo blade didn't seem to last as long. I've got a gas axe in the mail now though...goodbye sawzall. :D

 Another vote for "The Torch" model. I was cutting some nice 1/4" plate with them just last night. Almost 2 linear feet in cuts and the blade was happy about it.

I was cutting on an angle, not straight against the perpendicular.

I like the torch, lots of oil and slow speed

I've had pretty good luck with blu-mol aggressor blades on thick stuff- quarter and 3/8"

Make sure you use the right tpi for what you're cutting- it will tell you on the back of the package. Wrong tpi count and any blade will bust teeth.

Anyone try the diamond coated blades?

Ditto on the Dewalts. I saw them on clearance at HD and thought, name brand, ought to be good, right? Wrong! Complete crap. I've had the best luck with Lenox brand. Best hacksaw blades too.

i have been using the lennox lately and they seem to be good. i have cut maybe 15 pieces of 1.75 dom with one blade.

I like Lennox the best by far. The torch I've found wasn't worth the money over even the Dewalt brand. Found this out cutting all the metal receptacle boxes out of my walls, it's hell on blades.

Is the lennox called "the lazer"? If so, that's what I usually use too and it does rock my world. :D.

you're nuts!

I used one (1) torch blade to reduce the entirety of my 4runner quarter panels to 8"x8" squares. that blade is still in my saw and still sharp.

in my opinion i will choose lenox ,

Over the others reason for it cost and because they work good for general purposes (most of the time through 3/16 to 3/8 plate steel also in some sheet metal )

I've had good luck with the torch blades...But I prefer my port-a-band for most cuts that I do on bolts, tube, and smaller pieces of plate under 6" in width.

My packages of Torch blades cut an 85p/u in half and worked on demolishing part of my 4runner. Worked great, but no better than the couple of dewalt ones. But when it came to shoving them in a wall and cutting nails on a galvanized receptacle box, bent around corners, ramming into the backwall, they shed teeth like a schoolkid after Hiroshima.

agreed, nothing outcuts a portaband, IF the aplication will allow.
