: Ways to get more flex?

My rig is a trail rig, never on the street. It has SOA with 2" lift shackles and I was told Yota springs (They were on it when I got it). Anyways, it doesn't flex well at all before picking a tire off the ground. Whats something I can do that won't cost a ton to get it to flex a little more? Its not the lighest rig, but its not super heavy since its been gutted.

If I do that, will it make the wheelbase longer? I want to do that as well, to get a better approch and departure, and to make it more stable on the hills.

yep, yj's with folding shackles, I'm partial to the revolvers.

I got toys in the rear and rears up front, flexs great. I plan on sticking some toy springs up front too

If it doesn't flex well, I doubt you have stock toyota springs. Toyota springs see, to flex well up front. With the weight of a 350 I would expect the tires to stuff on most speed bumps :D YJ are a bit softer and are the same length as Toyota rears (I think??).

yeah, like I said, I really don't know what I have. All I know is I can pick up a front tire with a engine hoist and only get maybe 12-15" before the other side wants to come up. I can get maybe 15-18" with a back tire before the other side wants to come up. Main problem is the front. I couldn't tire climb a stock Sami tire if I wanted to lol

Zilla,

Is the rear axle steer really as severe as it looks in the pic?!?

How bout shocks? Unbolt them and see if you get a bunch more droop, if you do, get longer ones, dont just leave them unbolted. :flipoff2:

No in my opinion it is not that bad ,but others seem to think it is .So to each his own.
I have learned to drive through the steer and i really like it now it has an advantage ...

yeah already checked, shocks aren't the problem. Same results with one end undone.

Use F-150 rear springs all the way around.
Happy wheelin,
Chance.

I had Toyota rear springs front and rear and was happy with the flex.

I would not recommend the YJ springs under your rig with the v8 power. You will eat them alive. They will wrap and die an early death. The Toyotas will at least have a chance of fighting of the torque loads.

Without knowing more about your rig and seeing it in person, it is hard to say what you need to do. You have a very custom rig that is going to have more in common with a V8 Jeep CJ5 then it has to do with most of the rigs here.

Yeah guess I just need to save up the coin for 4 link front and rear with Fox shocks all around like I want to do. :D
