I am thinking about starting a new project and building it from the ground up. Full ton running gear, v-8, and big tires. I want to start with the frame and even tho I have the axles and drive train figured out I can't seem to decide on a frame to start with. So the question: If you were starting a project from scratch, what frame would you start with. Would you go for the light and narrow small pickup frame like toyota or nissan. Or a blazer frame, being wide and short. Or a one ton frame being beefy. What are your opinions.

Square tube frames aren't very difficult to build. It is really nice making everything from scratch instead of spending half your time cutting other stuff off....Plus, you can put anything anywhere you want...it's the way to go.
Good luck,

Just finishing up a frame under my '89 Full-sized Blazer & it's definitely the way to go! It's a good bit of work but like CJ said; it's wide open. Everything & anything can be wherever & however you want it! :)
Plus; you can make it beefier than anything any factory ever put out & possibly even lighter with some trick designing.
Good Luck
