: Narrowed Dana 44 front axle

What maintains the location of the axles in a Ford front HP Dana 44.
I have narrowed the axle to fit Waggy shafts.
My question is what maintains the shaft assembly in position similar to how a TJ D30 axle nut and unit bearing works, or does it float as a rear D35.
My concern is how cridical the end of the axle clearance to the cross pin is.
I just installed the axle ears and before calling it good arrived at this concern.
Thanks,
Tom

The outter snap ring, and Spindle bearing/seal

it's kind of a full floater. In the end of the stub shaft on Ford front axles is a groove for snap ring. It's supposed to keep it from working in. I haven't used them for years and never had a problem. I think GM has a threaded stub shaft that uses a bolt and washer.
A panhard arm locates a solid axle on the front of a ford 1/2 ton and below. Above that they have leaf springs.

I'd get rid of the "Kind of" :D

aven2rus, note FearMe is running the stock axle shaft and housing (I sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong). With your setup make sure to use the snap rings! Also make sure your axle stub and spindle match.

Thanks!
My concern was lateral movement would allow the axle to contact the tube. I'm just a bit parinoid with this being the first front axle I have narrowed.
The thought of lossing an alloy shaft and CTM has me looking at everything very close.

Yes to the stubs. I am running the Ford outer stub with Waggy inner axles.
Thanks,
Tom
