you'll get a few different answers from people here...but all the from D44's in F100and F150's since late 60's (not sure exact year) have RC44's. They were all drum brake until around 76, and earlier ones used the smaller 260X u-joints.

Just look for the hydro ram and open knuckles with drum brakes and you'll be fine. Else if you want the Ford disk brakes look for 76-77.
With 72-65 you'll find kin pins (two different kinds) and closed knuckles. Not sure what u-joint they have.

ive got a 44 hp for sale. its 67 inches wide out of a f-100. it has the 297x ujoints. also it has 5:13 gears, and a detroit locker. im trying to get 900 out of the thing. i could ship it for decently cheap

Really? Doesn't surprize me. The Dana book listed 71-72 as king pins. Didn't even mention closed knuckles.

What's the Dana part number on it? (On the webing)

Have Pictures of it?

I don't have any pics...but I could get some.

But it looks just like every other open knuckle RC44 with drum breaks I've ever seen.
