Alright I wont beat around the bush here. I am going to go soa in a few weeks. In the process I am shifting the front axle a tad forward to gain a little wheel-base.

I have a few questions for you guys. Do I need a cv rear I have a t18 d 20 combo?. If so is there a truck out there that I could nab one from. Could be somthing to search for in my next salvage yard sprees!

I am for sure going with a scout 44 rear, thats already built and ready to go. The front I dont know if I wanna use outbaord springs or not? It would seem the jeep would be a tad more stable when I have to drive it on the street. But I am open to your suggestions.

Is there a chevy, ford or dodge 44 front axle with a right drop pumkin that I could just cut the tube down and use some other thrucks factory axle? I just hate to have to buy two custom axle shafts!

And will stock cj7 rear springs all around make the jeep too tall? I have 4 Inches now and i am only wanting to go for 5-6" taller than stock on the suspension. i am going to run 35's or 36's.

And beleive me this cash is burning a hole in my pocket for these tires!

For now my cj5 is 4-5"lift and 33's. I dont drive it on the street much since I got the diesel tow rig so i can justify putting it up in the air more.

I think that if you don't drive on the street or at high speeds to often a regular shaft should work. You can pull a cv out of a chevy or waggy and cut it down though. Chevy, waggy and dodge axles have ps drops available to use. The front can come out of a waggy and you only have to cut one side down to not have to run outboard. Although running outboard shackle reversal and converting to YJ or waggy springs would be benificial and you could use the waggy axle how it is but your wheelbases would probably be off a bit front to rear.It doesn't cost too much to have one axle shaft shortened and resplined.
The stock springs and the 35-36" will rub alot while flexing if you don't trim the feders a bunch. I use 2.5" Yj springs which sag down nicely and still clear everything. Your 4" springs(depending on who makes them) will sag also once sprung over and you won't have all the lift that you are trying to get away from.

I want to keep the track width about scout dana 44 width. Thats what i am gonna be running in the rear. I have a scout 44 already that is in awsome shape. and matches my gears in the rear.

My 4" springs(since they are old style) are only 1 3/4" wide. So I have the stock cj7 springs that are 2.5" and they have a good arch. Theres a few guys around here with that setup but theirs are newer than mine is.

I can cut a waggy driveshaft down no problem, does it have the same u-joints as the standered cj does??.

Also when you said My wheelbases would be off did you mean width would be off? Sorry i get confused really easy.

Thanks for your help though
